No, that's indeed not possible. What I have done (and am currently testing) is a system that somewhat simulates the character picking the next skill according to his traits.
characters acquire experience in admin and military, as well as "personality". This gives them certain level in that drill which in return allows them to acquire skills and virtues (or vices).
current state of the system:

Hi
I just installed the mod but I can't start it.
I have the steam version of the game
when a roman faction surrenders all its possessions to you when it dissolves could you make them still retain their legions instead of degrading them to auxiliaries? it would help enormously in the expansion of the whole empire thanks
I can run the game with steam as like as DBM,but few turns later I get CTD.Could you help me please?
After two players to participate in a HS using this great mod. Here is the thread. Even if you have never even heard of a hotseat before, I would love for this to be your introduction.
Many thanks
I just downloaded this today. For a year now, I have been trying to force myself to like Rome II. Yes, the battles and units look pretty...but I can never get myself to play more than 20 or 30 turns without quitting...usually for months. This mod (and DBM and EB II ) are really very good even now!
On another note, my one comment is that on the Sulla v. Marius campaign the legionaries, at least for Sulla's Rome, look a little late for that time period. Is there any plan to change them later on?

I understand! Thanks [ed. I played again and I think at least in DBM some of the legions have a more early appearance with montefortino helmets etc.]. I am not sure how to change recruitment availability though etc.

Those are the Pre-Marian Principes. I had thought of them too but they also wear pectorales and other rather early republican gear. So I decided to not use them.
I would not recommend to change anything with recruitment in this mod unless you are seasoned in working with rather complex EDBs
I won't try, I did once for a Rome II mod, but ended up having to reinstall the whole game! This is a wonderful mod though, I like the idea of smaller campaigns, also love the victory conditions!
