Happy to help. Hopefully the rest of the thread can be about gameplay.

    I hope so.

Now, what's next. I am just working on a new map, which is based on the Vanilla M2TW map. I can't get the DBM map loading into Geomod, but having a freely editable map would really help this mod in displaying various centuries. This might also address the problems with Parthia (see below).

I also think a trait system similar to that of Shogun 2 would be nice to have. I am thinking of less, but more powerful, traits that would be acquired in some kind level system by military experience. Not sure how to get that into M2TW so far.

And then we have part 2 of it, that is the scenarios between the 3rd and the 6th Century.

Gameplay experience so far from my side:

We have massive battles, not surprisingly. Interestingly, the AI develops a tendency to mass up stacks on certain spots without attacking. I have read that being reported as a big in Rome 2, but as you can see, the behavior already exists in M2TW. A serious problem, of course, is the inability of the AI to win tactical battles. The AI does slightly better in the later scenarios because both sides field mostly heavy infantry, and you can't do so much wrong with an army of legions vs and another army of legions.

When you wish to spice up things, I would suggest to use house rules and autocalc battles from time to time. When you want to have a fair game, autocalc all important battles and only play minor engagements, even though that would be less fun.

Another thing I have observed is an odd behavior of Parthia when at war with Romans: The Parthians start with a couple if full stacks at their western border, but remove those units and make them garrisons in the east. There is nothing going on there because all neighboring settlements are neutral slave, while on the western border their enemies are sitting with huge armies. I think the new map will be able to address this problem because those eastern settlements are simply gone.

have you think about adding realbadAI?

mostly the AI is attacking straight ahead and sending it´s general into death (kind of vanilla me2tw)

That can be an idea. I'll check what's in store and do some testing

Have you ever played Deus Lo Vult? That, and I think Bellum Crucis have some of the most complex trait systems in Med2. Ending turns outside settlements, the numbers of battles won, how big the battles were, how strong the victory or loss was (average, heroic, etc.), and more is tracked. Also I recall in EB1 one of the Eastern factions gained the ability to use cataphracts by having a general lose 2-3 battles against armies with cataphracts and killing at least some of them, coming in stages. I recall DLV even having young Generals gain experience by campaigning alongside more seasoned generals, having their traits rub off.

Yes, the system of DLV is something along that line I had been thinking of.

Most characters in this mod are already well experienced in the fields of administration, military and politics. This is difficult to display with the Vanilla traits.

Did every scenario get the same units?

No, that wouldn't make much sense

Can I play as the gordians in the 3rd century crisis scenario?

Then you can't play as Diocletian or Postumus, am I right? Because it starts with the Gordians and Maximinus
