    Default Add a new unit in Attila vs. in Rome 2

    Hello fellow modders,

    I was wondering if there were a difference between adding a new unit to Attila and adding it to Rome 2. I am asking this because I followed Magnar's Youtube tutorial step by step and yet my game gets stuck at the loading screen whenever I launch the game (Attila). After spending a lot of time looking for answers, I finally find the following in a comment of another of his tutorial videos:

    start over again is my advice!

    here is a good few tips:
    -always copy a existing unit, and edit that way, So if you made a levy pikemen, copy a unit which reminds of yours.
    -nEVER gO cAPS
    -if you are making multiple units, make one at the time, and test them in custom battle, for each unit, it is then easier to point out which unit mess up.
    -if you are using PFM always check for errors with that button.
    It is really hard to say what went wrong, but some times it is because you call on a item which isn't in the game files.
    somethings the system don't care about:
    - the VDM file, you just get ghost model.
    -name and short desc.

    It can be a animation which makes it messed up?

    Thank you for your answer

    My unit is already based on a vanilla one (WRE Legio Comitatenses). Also I don't think it is an animation problem, because the variantmeshdefinition file of the unit works perfectly if I use it as a reskin mod for a vanilla unit. It might be the missing item thing though... if that's the case, then I guess it's the variantmeshdefinition file which is not found. That said, I'm almost sure that it is a wrong entry problem: everything else I tweaked were the unit's stats.

    Also, what is this button in PFM that you me talked about? Can you please give me a link to this guide?

    I read all of it and checked everything, and it is still not working

    Or may be... is it important to do the main_units_tables firt?

    Nope only if you do use the "combo box", and like to reload it a lot.

    It can be a animation you have added which isn't in the DB.

    I'll try to remake the mod from the start, I haven't added any animations though (I created a sword unit based on an already existing sword unit).

    Is there a way to see where exactly the error/conflict occurs when loading the game data?
