Large Onagers- Where

I am playing as the ERE and have yet to conquer a territory that has the requisite timber to build large onagers. I start off with my territories surrounding Constantiniople, down to Egypt and the territories of Greece and get as far as building light units and then because of no timber cannot get to the big boys. I know the ERE had these units and don't know why it should be so hard to acquire the necessary material to build them. Any help would be appreciated.

Armenia, just to the east of your beginning territory, has timber. Borders your provinces Cappadocia and Osroene. In fact, I think the town which has the resource is Tosp, which happens to be the closest to your border. So you don't even have to conquer the whole province or besiege a walled city in order to get access to the wood.

Dam; tnx Bramborough. I took Tosp in the last game and razed it to the ground as I wanted no more interference from the Sassys and their followers. Will remember to save them next time.

Lol, I did the exact same thing (for the same reason). Which is why I remember it so specifically. To make it worse, it was on the very next turn I started looking into the onager building. "Hmm...looks like I need wood for these things. Where can I get some? Oh....that town I burned down like 5 minutes ago. Oops."
