    Default Impressions on performance

Played ~100 turns. I'm using a dell 9400 laptop, with a 2ghz c2d chip, 1gig ram, 7900gs. I'm playing with the game maxed out (apart from the atrio setting and shadows), huge units and 1600x1200 res.

I'm amazed at how quickly the game loads. I reboot and run only necessary stuff to make the most of my gig of memory but the game really does load very quickly. I've been playing chivalry a bit lately and m2tw is loading quicker than rtw. The campaign map is flawlessly smooth, much better than rome. Battles, only encountered slowdown in a nighttime siege of a huge city, only had 4k troops in the battle though. Turned building/unit detail down to 'high' and it ran smoothly again.

CA has done a great job on the engine, that's probally the thing I'm most impressed with.

yeah i can run it at 1024x68 on decent settings ate huge unit sizes and i get almost stutter free gameplay on a sempron 2800+ 1gb ddr400 and a 6600.

Why would you want to overclock a celeron? It woudl only make it suck faster...

I have everything maxed with my 7900gs except shadows and reflections but i cant play on higher unit sizes because it lags too much. Im pleased with the normal sizes though.

wow really? thats fantastic news! I'm almost finished building a am2 350064 with 1gb ddr2 667mhz ram on a m2v-tvm mobo with a 7600 extreme edition @ 580mhz. i should be able to max it! I wasn't expecting to. the performance has come so far from the first demo.

I'm playing at almost max settings (1280 x 1028, 2x AA, 4 x AF, all settings high, Huge unit sizes) on my AMD 3500 (@2.7ghz), 6800GT (@Ultra speeds), 1 gb ram computer and I have not gotten any lag at all, even in a siege with 2 full stacks, though admittedley it was only a large town.

Well I have an Intel Core 2 Duo e6400 with 1.5 GB of RAM, and an ATI Radeon X1900XTX card, and the game runs fantastically.

    AMD64 X2 3800 dual core
MSI KBN Neo 4 PCI Express mobo
    250 Gig SATA HD
    2 gig RAM
    NVidia 7800 GT

    Everthing run at the max

As smooth as silk. Better than any movie I've ever seen. Amazing atmospheric colours...I feel like I'm there...like I can breath the air in the scene...

This is truly an amazing game.

I have an AMD Athlon 2700+ XP (2,16Gh), Radeon 9600 128mb and 512mb RAM. The game is generally just playable, but any bigger siege battle just kills all performance. I don't know when I'm able to upgrade my whole PC, likely not in several years but I can get a better videocard or more RAM. So can anyone tell me if MTW2 demands more RAM or a better videocard?

    How is this possible O_O.

I have AMD 4000+ 2.4GHZ, 2GB DDR400, and a 7800GT, and I can only run this with high, shadows on lowest, 4xaa, and trillinear AF (1280x1024 always)

4xaa is your problem. Try turning it down or off.

Try +512 RAM on the other slot and you'll be fine for now (except for the +large town sieges maybe)

My rig runs things smoothly until you put units on walls in a siege. Then it gets nasty. I had a game were a city defended by militia was being attacked, and events transpired so that the attacking force had only one set of ladders with which to enter. After piling my militia onto that section of wall the game slowed to a crawl. I'm not sure if it was my units on the wall or the horde of AI units all trying to climb the ladder at the same time, but there's something seriously wrong with the AI decision tree when it comes to walls.

This seems to be a bug
You ask for steak, I bring you fish. You say that you think steak is better than fish. I say that fish is much more popular than steak so obviously it's better. You say that no matter how good the fish is it can't be better at being steak than the actual steak we used to serve. I say that's just your perception and you're entitled to it but you should accept that fish is the future and that's good. You begin to say something but I stab you in the eye with a fork and run into the kitchen.

I'm runnning 1680x1050, with everything maxed and huge unit scale. Smooth framerate for almost every battle so far, I get some severe slideshow when its raining in a heavily forested area and there's about 5000 units on screen. Clear weather and plain battle area gives a real smooth framerate for the big battles.
