Help me find a smooth graphics setting

Hello there I have:

P4 3ghz, 800mhz frontside bus
1GB RAM
Radeon X800XL

I have auto detected the settings. Screen resolution at 1024x768, and the graphics settings more or less on medium each. I have turned off shadows. The game performance is not very smooth. I want to run it smoothly so can you tell me what are the key graphics fields i need to lower to ensure a smooth gameplay? Thanks in advance.

Turn off shadows and reflections. Turn of anti aliasing and set anisotropy to 2x and stick to normal unit sizes. Test ingame what grass you can put and what vegetation level.

Just turn it to Shader1 instead of Shader2

it will run phenominally better.

of course, but he will loose the bloom stuff and some graphical details. Maybe it's worth to try anyway.

Yeah I had also lost those features (Bloom and Shadows)

however the FPS gain was worth it. I went from 8-12 fps to a steady 50-80.
