Future of this mod
Is it just me or does this forum seem extra dead lately? Hardly any new threads opened, none of the devs have posted relevant info on the mod lately either. So I guess I'll try to make a vain attempt at sparking some conversation.
What has the development of FotE been looking like lately? Have you guys tossed around any ideas about the future of this mod *IE messing around with battle maps when they release*?
Also, I read somewhere recently that the Lord of the Rings conversion mod for Attila will feature custom animations, made by using the xbox one's kinect device. If successful, is this something you guys might think about in the future, for things such as phalanxes/ shield walls, or just to make battles look more realistic?
Another thing I've noticed while playing the mod is that the gothic factions still almost look the same as they do in vanilla. Are there many gothic-specific armors you guys were thinking about adding or do the Goths already look fairly realistic?
I welcome any and all to comment, and if there's anything else you'd like to ask/discuss then just post here

Re: Future of this mod
Ahiga talk often about the progress he made on the romans so you can see by yourself that a update is on the way. Don't ask me any ETA i don't know (i'm making only graphic assets) but I guess you will not have to wait too much just be patient.
I don't know about the goths but maybe Maximus183 will be able to say something about them. In fact I barely know anything but i want to answer about the kinect and animation stuffs you hear from the guys who work on Rise of Mordor for Attila. To my knowledge we don't have planned to do such things, i don't know the process to make it work and everything but right know i think all about animations are good, and if we have to tweak something already existing I think Avetis can do this.
FotE is not a big overall like Rise of Mordor and those guys who work on this are really skilled about 3D modelling and animations more than me at least, i'm learning about Zbrush but i don't expect to do something decent in the near futur, and about animations unfortunately it's even worse.
There are plenty of animations for the matched combat but they are to rare, such rare that i discover animations i have never seen before weeks after the release, maybe someone inside the DEV team ('Gunny maybe) can do something to increase the chance of matching combat animations.

Re: Future of this mod
What Hadrien said. We're starting off small and building off each success. One foot in front of the other, which for us currently are the Romans with Hadrien and Avetis' work among the barbarians. And above all - be patient.
DEI wasn't built in a day, and if I recall right only really got the ball rolling months after R2's release.
I am not sure what the rest of the team has in mind for the barbarians but I do know that I want to work on them with a 'total overhaul' much like we've done with the Romans. And I'd like to do that for the Berbers...and the arabs, and the Sassanids, and the Black Africans, and the Nomads. Doing all that at once will overwhelm me and make me lose heart and quit - so it's one step ahead at a time. But when I am able to get to the Barbarians I can say with certainty I want to change up some of the factional themes and unit availability. There are some interpretations I differ on CA with. I'm leery of going into details lest someone get upset with it, but I can say for one that I want the at least the Franks, Visigoths and Ostrogoths be able to "Romanize" into proper Romano-Barbarian successor states. But how that would manifest is unclear - my expertise is just in units so I am thinking purely in a "access to some roman units" sense.
But yes, I do want to work on the barbars.

Re: Future of this mod
Just wanted to echo what was said earlier. We got a very early (alpha basically) version out there for Attila release to show the direction we are heading. However, going forward will be the long phase of the mod. We hope to have some updates soon.

Re: Future of this mod
Hahaha it's no worries guys, I wasn't implying that you guys should rush out content or anything, you have lives outside of modding, I understand that your life takes precedence over this mod.
I've just been in love with some of you guys previous works, so I'm excited what beauty you can make out of this game. What really got me most inspired to make this thread was Rise of Mordors ideas of using the kinect to make custom animations. A lot of the animations in rome 2 and attila just don't look right *for example, the way men hold their spears in a spear wall is completely wrong* so I was just curious if you guys were planning on consulting with the Rise of Mordor team to get some animation modding going on.
But alas, I appreciate and love all of the work you guys have done so far, thank you for dedicating so much of your lives on making these games better and giving us history lovers the game we should've had. God speed, modders
