Default The use of Camels in the acient times of war

I was wondering. I rarely read anything about Camels used in warfare during the acient times and beyond. The records about it are vage and short. Like the battle of Thymbra ( 547 BC Lydia, Croesus vs Persian Cryrus the great) Battle of Nisibis (217, Rome VS parthia) and Magnesia ( 190 BC, Roman republic vs Seleucis).

So my question is: How ofter where cames used in combat, by who, and with what effectiveness?

When i was playing as Nabatea it suggested that camel archers where more common than horse archers in their armies and that the Sabean armies hired Bedouin camel mercenaries. So i believe that its just going to be near Arabian peninsular where you will find camels. I'm not sure if Rajastan, Numidia or the Tarim basin will have them.

I don't think they have started on this yet so it might be awhile before we see camel units and get to read their descriptions.

The only thing I can remember is that the Mughals used small cannons mounted on camels to great success as they could move anywhere a camel could.

Oh nice. Perhaps the camel bowmen at Magnesia where Nabatea mercenaries sinds Antiochus III won the fifth Syrian war. Making a end to the Ptolematic rule of Judea.

I read that there where No camels in Numidia at that time. They only came there during the Muslim conquest much later and even the Moors barely used them during the conquest of Spain (they where used only for transport, but more rely on Donkeys)

Camels cannons used by the Mughal empire, sounds fun, I think they where smal guns that need to be fired from a fixt position.

I wonder if they really scare horses

Oh Bedouin Camel mercenaries. Nice, perhaps these where also used during the battle of Magnesia. After Antiochus III defeated Ptolemy V during the Fifth Syrian , Ptolemaic rule in Judea ended.

Numedia had no camels . Only much later during the Muslin conquest this change a little bit. but the Moors during the conquest of Spain barely* used any camels in combat (*only for transport, but most of this task was done by donkeys)

Mughal empire used camel guns, nice, did no knew that . I did a quick research. they are called Zamburak

But during the acient times (the timeline EB II uses). I can't find much about camels in combat.
Do they really scare horses by the way?
