    Default [Submod Realeased]The Old Gods

    I've been working on this mod for some time now, it's based on Korpsog's Wrath of the North submod. It's based in the North and the North alone, 1000 years prior to Robert's Rebellion, with the great houses of the North vying for the crown of The King in the North. This is the relative time frame of the last major Bolton rebellion when House Greystark joined the Bolton's in an effort to overthrow the Starks. Without completely detailed accounts of the complete storyline of this time frame I've taken several liberties with some of the clouded historical points. I'm always open to be corrected if something I say is incorrect about this era though. I'm also not greatly creative when it comes to explaining the backstories and descriptions of the factions and the time frame so when the submod comes out I'm sorry for the lack of ingenuity. All in all I think it's a great submod with room for improvement and I'll always be thinking of new ways to improve it, especially when 1.0 comes out. Once again this is just a preview as I'm not near done enough with ui/unit cards/few models/descriptions/ but it's quickly coming together. On a side note to this submod I've received and idea from someone who suggested framing the submod to the time of the last book and having Stannis replace the Night's Watch and was looking for other opinions on this idea. Thank you all and here's the preview...of sorts....

    Basis
    This mod takes place 1000 years before Robert's Rebellion when House Bolton and House Greystark formed an alliance to take the North from the Starks. The Starks still hold the alligiance of House Reed but all the other Northern Houses are sitting aside waiting for the scales to tip in one direction or the other. The lands beyond the wall have seen the Free Folk gathering in great numbers under another King Beyond the Wall and are readying to make their march on the wall. House Umber sits with the Bolton's warring to their southern borders and news of the Wildlings amassing have them worried as the Night's watch is not as powerful as in years past. House Ryswell and House Dustin sit content on the Western side of the North and have little worry of the Lords of the North marching on their land hence leaving them to amass power to make a march of their own. House Greyjoy, though bannerman of House Hoare, have set up camps near Kraken's Cliff gaining a foothold to further the ironborn's ambitions in the North; if they could only gain some renown with victories could bring House Hoare into the war and ensure Ironborn victory. House Arryn itself is sitting idle waiting for an opportunity to invade, but as of yet have charged the northern Lords of the Vale with the task of disrupting and conquering Northern lands before they involve themselves in the struggle. These next few years will decide the outcome and future of the North.

    Unique units (some new models included)
    Axe, spear, sword, archer

    I've created/remodeled some new models for many of the upper tier soldiers and have the 1.0 teams old units they released for others. All in all I believe the units are quite different from the vanilla.


    Traits/Scripts

    Hidden traits that greatly influence a Lords ability to hold his lands together. {Hint no Bolton as leader watch out for revolting Bannermen}
    Care should be taken when attacking rival Lords capital
    A foe often raiding from the east
    Blood line traits {care who you adopt if no blood heirs}
    Kingships
    Fealty
    Bending the Knee
    Keep a watchful eye on the Ironborn/Arryn if AI
    ....Much more scripted I'd rather keep quiet until it sneaks up on ya


    I will maybe be able to find a good amount of time to upload so unit pics/maps/etc this weekend and all said I'm roughly 85% done with everything and hope to release it soon. Most of what I have left is text description/lore line descriptions.

    Ever since I've got my new computer my milkshape has been crap and I'm having serious trouble making units, so if anyone knows of a flag barer unit that is a free resource or one that I can ask for permission please let me know because I really want to implement them into this submod

    I don't think I quite credited Korsp enough for the idea and for him creating the map and the settlements. It was his mod, The Wrath of the North, that made me want to create the idea of the last major Bolton Rebellion. When the time comes to release the submod I'll make sure to give credit the the people who helped out in on way or the other.

    House Reed is a very fun faction in this scenerio and I really like the units that I gave them in that they are completely unique to their faction and will take a specialized hand to use the units to their abilities to win battles and gain renown. They're sneaky fellas and must be handled as such.

    I'm looking forward to it. I hadn't realized you were already so far in the process.
    Will Reed use any Norther units? Or are they completely unique? Because you didn't mention them in the unit-list.

    Also, where is the most southern part of the map? Because you want the Arryns, but don't have the riverlands so I imagine it's going to be a naval thing?

    I would imagine that only the very smallest of Ironborn and Arryn lands would be on the map. However It will prove interesting if as your playing House Arryn storms white harbour or sneak attacks the Dreadfort.

    So I reread the backstory in the first post, and the Arryn forces are specifically northern Vale lords tasked with conquest, and the Iron Born are a glory seeking Greyjoy colony in the North.

    Some Reed Archers, Defenders of the Neck, Household Guards, and then some Castle Levies which these are the generic but most Houses noble and minor have their own that can only be recruited from their castle and all houses that hold that castle can recruit them.

    I think it would be cool to implement the Karstarks in some way, as this seems to be the historical timeframe they originate from. Not necessarily as a playable faction, but maybe as an emerging faction if you're playing as a Greystark/Bolton? From the AWOIAF:

    "The Karstarks are descendants of the First Men and have the blood of the Starks of Winterfell in their veins from a thousand years before. Their founder was Karlon Stark, who put down a rebel lord and was granted lands for his valor."

    "Approximately a thousand years ago, the Boltons bent their knees to Winterfell and agreed to abandon their practice of flaying their enemies. Also a thousand years ago, Karlon Stark built a castle on land taken from a rebel lord; it is possible this land of House Karstark was taken from the Boltons."
