Hi all!
I want to start out by saying that I really enjoy Attila. However, I find the barbarian factions are really lacking in variety. So this mod aims to spruce things up a little bit!
What this mod is/does:
- This mod aims to diversify the barbarian factions, following the guidelines of historical authenticity
- Adds new units to most factions, allowing for a larger variety of play-styles between factions
- Creates more diversity in units, to create a less uniformed feel
Some things to note:
- I'm not going to remove females from units, nor will I create an alternate version as such. I do not feel it is implausible that females could be in lower units and as such it isn't something I agree with. However, there will not be entire units of females... No valkyries, shield-maidens, etc. etc.
- Some of these units - in order for diversity and the sake of gameplay - will be based on somewhat sketchy sources, descriptions of battles/warriors, religions, later history, and perhaps myths. It's important to remember I'm trying to balance gameplay and authenticity - and when push comes to shove gameplay will take a bit more precedence over authenticity.
My first step is to finish the planning stage. I need to finalize the list of units to be created/reskinned and finish gathering sources. After that, my initial release would be reskinning current units to easier convert to the new units - creating the unit variants is half the battle! Once that is released, more than likely I will be waiting to create the full new unit rosters when the assembly kit is released.
What I need from you:
Yes, I could use your help!
- I'm in need of some sources for eastern Germanic (Gothic, Vandal, Lugii), Sarmatian (Alani/Roxolani), and Celtic rosters. This includes reference pictures, artifacts, artwork, essays and any loose information regarding any of these cultures. Any help given on these would be appreciated!
Please feel free to ask any questions and comment for a show of support!![]()
