Default Campaign over at 525 A.D.?

I have just reached spring 525 A.D. in my campaign and now I can't move my armies, save or end the turn.

Is this normal? I don't think, I have reached this point in any previous TW game.

hmm...this seems to be a reoccurring theme with attila. Things work fine until later in the campaign then everything drops through the floor. AI goes full retard in mid-late game, and now after a certain date, the game just stops working

Wish I could help. I finished the cultural victory in 522. I can play through if you need someone to check. TBH, I don't want to disable Radious which I've just enabled. It's crazy easy on Hard as the Franks. It doesn't make a lot of sense for the campaign to finish in 525 though, the factions were still involved in a lot at that time. Theodoric the Great only came along in 521.

Sounds like just a bug or glitch. They used to clearly state the final turn you could play to in the victory conditions / campaign selection screen of older TW games, so if they had intended the campaign to end in 525 (or at any particular date), I think they would have stated as much.

Overall, the campaign is usually okay for me. So far, I've only had one campaign that broke, though it broke far earlier than 525: was playing as Geats, and around 437 or so, the family tree screen became inaccessible for me since the game CTD'ed every time I tried to open it. Even re-loading the game didn't work, and both save files (auto-save and the manual save) had the problem. Probably, the problem had somehow started a few turns back while I was just hitting end-turn to build an army or something. Very frustrating, but other than that I've the other 5-6 campaigns of mine go flawlessly from a technical standpoint, even into the 470s's or 480's for a few campaigns that took me longer.

Well, maybe it's just a random bug, but always keep in mind that the longer you play a campaign, the more unstable it becomes. Theoritically, you can continue playing it as long as you want, but in reality, the game is forced to process so many variables that it starts to collapse. Since you've played the game for more than 520 turns, I think that's a possible explanation.

Theodoric the Great died around that time historically which could explain it.

Well, I'm at turn 220, I've gotten a Military Victory, survived till 450 AD, killed Attila, and am in charge of everything from Britannia in the west to Hyperborea in the east. The game still won't end. The other problem in addition to this is that I cant open the Factions screen without crashing to desktop.

Can anyone tell me whether or not the Grand Campaign has an ending cutscene something akin to Shogun 2, just something to let me know that I've won and can get started on something else?

The military victory video is the end of the game, unless you want to get the cultural or keep on playing for the divine triumph conditions.

The seventh seal cutscene is the only ending cutscene. It triggers on any of the three advanced victory conditions. If you already got the cutscene by military victory, you won't get another cutscene by doing cultural victory or divine triumph.

I don't think it ever does. As I've said, contrary to my first impression on the era, just about everything in the game's time frame didn't happen until 'late game.' 600 wouldn't be unreasonable, because that's when other major powers start to emerge. Let me check my current Ostrogoth campaign for the latest date I've played till. EDIT: Still good until Spring of 523....

On another note, and I'm sorry for going off-topic, has anyone else encountered this bug where opening the faction tab causes crashes? Is there anyway to fix it? I've already tried verifying the cache on Steam.

I think it must be soome glltch as the only games that have actual end dates were the original Shogun and Medieval. Best if you can forward the save game to CA.

They really need to release the new patch to correct all the errors. I do not want to reach 525 and to have game crushed and loose everything that i have achieved up to the 525 AD.
