    Default Medieval 2 Total War missing executable.

    Hello,I havn't played games on my computer for a few months and I came back about a month ago but for some reason whenever I try launch medieval 2 total war it always says missing executable, all my other total war games work fine but its just M2TW that hasn't been working. When I open my Medieval 2 total war files all it has is mods and inside that is the 4 kingdoms campaigns. Would anyone be able to help me out and try explain how to fix this? I've had m2tw since 2013 and it worked fine when I installed it back then.

    Steam changed how M2 and Kingdoms are set up (changing Kingdoms into DLC for M2) so basically you need to re-download the whole lot (7GB iirc.) Goto your "downloads" page and you should see M2 qued there.

    Tried starting the game directly by running medieval2.exe or the launcher.exe?

    Once you have re-installed all you have to do to play custom mods (Third Age, Stainless Steel etc) is to change the text in the BAT files of your mods (in the root folder of the mod) from kingdoms.exe to medieval2.exe

    From: start kingdoms.exe @mods\my_mod\name_of_configuration_file.cfg
    To: start medieval2.exe @mods\my_mod\name_of_configuration_file.cfg
    Edit the BAT files by right clicking them and choosing 'edit'

    Not sure about the original kingdom campaigns. You may have to copy the BAT and CFG files from one of your mod and then do the BAT editing (including the campaign name) and edit the CFG file with Notepad where the name of the mod is mentioned:
    [features]
    mod = mods/crusades

    You can launch the Kingdoms campaigns directly from the steam library, personally I prefer making shortcuts to Medieval2.exe
