Default Medieval 2: Total War encountered an unspecified error and will now exit

This error appears when loading into a battle the weird part is it will only ctd sometimes and other times the battles will work.
I use windows 8,I have UAC disabled, run as administrator, bugfixes installed and reallybadai 5.7 installed. i have reinstalled several times and i have re-download twice the flies and I have even reinstalled medieval 2 total war twice. so i dont understand? is it a bad install because I have reinstalled and re-download but same results. It also sometimes ctd randomly on campaign map when going though ai turns with the same message.

You need to install outside of Program Files, sadly you cannot fully disable the UAC in Windows8, install SS in Games folder, it will work providing both MTW2 and SS are in same drive

No need for this; RBAI is already included in the bugfixes.

Most probably the causes of those CTDs are different from these ;you better file a different report when having these. The message is too generic, as it means that the game cannot identify the cause of the bug by itself.

The first error is harmless; Melooo182 included some children faction heirs and some triggers simply cannot work on them. The real bug took place about 35 minutes after that point, so more information is necessary. Make this change in default.cfg , repeat a battle that leads to crash, zip the log file and post it here. Since it is a battle crash and Germanicu5 asks for the savegame, it might be useful if you keep a backup of it too.

No apparent for me cause of the bug. Does these battle crashes happen all the time or only lately?

it crash most of the time when entering battle and its the same error every time i have been trying to fix this for weeks. maybe its something to do with uac?

It can't tell about UAC in MS windows 8, as I don't know how it works in that version.
If it is for weeks, it might be worth to try the daylight savings fix .

i have been trying to fix it for weeks but i download this mod last year i tried to fix then but gave up un installed it. plus daylight saving is over so makes no difference.so i have this problem from the very beginning.

Hmmm, I just remembered something else: Such CTD when a battle map is loaded can occur if you (either in total or the program) runs out of virtual memory. Personally, I use SysInternals Process Explorer for such checks.

still wont work i have completely disabled the uac for windows 8. I installed mtw2 in a different folder nope doesnt work i have tried just about everything including the process explorer but when i have that open and once i try to play the game it comes with this message: a required security module cannot be activated this progarm cannot be executed(5024). How do I check if it run out of memory? i am losing hope there has to be something else conflicting with mod??? if you know anything that could be conflicting with mod make a list. im running out of ideas on to fix it. if it works for other people it has to been a fix somewhere

well one thing I haven't tried is reinstalling my graphics card diver do you think that would do anything?

If the mod is installed correctly and you have not modified basic game files, there should be no compatibility issues. From the error message you got and the fact that it shows when you were using process explorer, it seems that a security program (SecuRom? ) prevents something (maybe the BAI switcher) from running. Hmmm, first of all, can you run vanilla M2TW without any problem? Also, do you use any emulator to run the game?

i can run vanilla m2tw fine with NO CRASHES when entering battle or going though turns. im not sure why anyone would use a emulator for this game but i dont

Although I hate to say this, since you have the steam version, I think you should try it. Please, just report back with your findings; I want to check -probably tomorrow- a friend's system with a pretty similar error.
