Hey just making another thread because no one replied to my post a few days ago, I responded to ElvenKind with:
Denethor is govenor of Minas Tirith.
If I remember right to when I did it, I don't think I had a map.rwm file in that folder although I have previously.
I cannot see the palantir indicator at all so I do not know if it is green or orange or red etc.
How do I set the keyboard setting to default?

Can you gather anything from this and see the issue?

map.rwm file regenerates with fresh data every time you delete it, it is supposed to do that.

Setting Keyboard to default is easy: Start TATW, go to Settings-Keyboard Settings-Default Settings.

Have you tried to change your resolution? Can you make a screenshot of your campaign map with the location of Palantiri indicator? Upload it somewhere( TinyPic for example) and post it here.

Download Fraps free version. Install Fraps, start Fraps and set which folder you want to save the screenshots in (Fraps - ScreenShots), and what format should pictures be saved as (.jpeg usually ). Start your TATW, take a screenshot with F10, find the taken screenshot and upload it to TinyPic, then post it in your post here on TWC ( there is a Insert Image button).

As you can see the Palantir icon is not there, I really do not know why I acnnot use it.

Are you using some submod for TATW 3.2? By the looks of the faction next to High Elves in upper right corner, you are playing some submod for TATW..

I'm not using a submod for TATW.. Its just vanilla 3.2, is there a checkbox to not use it that I have selected perhaps? Or any other ideas?

There is no checkbox to select/deselect it. Try to start a new game with either High Elves, Silvan Elves or Isengard, and check do they have Palantir icon after turn 5. If they don't have it, then your installation got corrupted somehow, and maybe it would be good to reinstall TATW 3.2.

Just out of curiosity, what faction is there in your upper right corner, the one whose territory is revealed the most.

The faction in the top of the minimap that you see in the screenshot is the Orcs of Gundabad. I have tried making a new campaign as the High Elves and Isengard but neither work. When I click F1 on the settlement that should show the Palantir HELP scroll it comes up with this image:

Does that tell you anything or will I have to reinstall?

Have you tried with F3? Is F3 actually the button that zooms the radar map for you?

Select Minas Tirith, be sure not to have toggle_fow cheat turned on, make sure Denethor is the governor and has the Palantir ancillary. Press F3, or the button which is set for zooming on the map.

If it still doesn't work, I would suggest to reinstall TATW 3.0 both parts + TATW 3.2 Patch, cause, even in this new screenshot you do not have a Palantir icon in your bottom left corner. Something got corrupt..

You could try to refresh whole TATW data and see does that fix the issue of missing Palantir( you would need to start a new campaign to check it, or try your current Gondor campaign again):
Delete map.rwm file in
M2TW/ mods/ Third_Age_3/
data/ world/ maps/ base
folder, and delete all
*strings.bin files in M2TW/
mods/ Third_Age_3/ data/
text folder ( there should be
27-28 *strings.bin files).

I will have to do a clean re-install... :/ shame really because I used to be able to use the Palantir fine before, but then I sorted out an issue with the construction of Mumaki for Harad and I can't use it, I wonder if that had something to do with it.

Only thing would be that you had made a wrong edit for the Mumakil Drill.. If you have a clean vanilla TATW 3.2 ( with only Reinforcement fix and this Mumakil Drill fix) I could upload my files tomorrow so you can just replace yours with them, cause I have a vanilla TATW 3.2 with properly installed/edited fixes. Along with another fix not mentioned, for a bug where Balrog spawns twice in Moria. I will upload it tomorrow during the day or evening when I find time, it would be in a .rar file which you can just extract and replace your files with mine.

Apologies for the late reply, I had to travel back home and unpack after the holiday I was on. I reinstalled it and applied the fixes as you have instructed. I started a new campaign and it works

, hopefully those fixes you linked me to also work (I'm pretty sure I did it right!). I have tried loading old saves but the Palantir will not work for them for whatever reason (file corruption?). Thank you for the assistance it is greatly appreciated.

Your old saved games will not work with these changes, cause changes in campaign_script file are not compatible with them. Starting a new campaign and deleting those files which I mentioned (map rwm and strings.bin files) will make the new changes=fixes work.

Late to the party but wanted to mention this in case it helps others...

Those screenshots show unusual graphics where the indicator is supposed to be: to the left of the minimap. (The left of the minimap should look exactly like the right of it, reversed of course, plus the palantir icon.) This indicates that there's an error somewhere, possibly the script, and the log is probably saying as much.
