    Default [REQ] ERE -> Byzantines

Here is a request to have ERE renamed to the Byzantine Empire, and maybe change their emblem to something like this: http://inmortal-chileno.deviantart.c...blem-170368216

I know that it is a stretch but ERE already has "Byzantine Marines" in game

    Done, DL link below.

    http://www.mediafire.com/download/9m...tine_name.pack

However, I couldn't be bothered changing the faction emblem because it is already a variant of the double headed eagle used by the Palaiologos dynasty.

    Thanks!
Could you please explain how you did it?

    yes.

    1. First download a program called "pack file manager". This is the link to it. http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...Attila-support
    2. Open Pack File Manager.
    3. Press "File" (top left) and then "New". The word "Untitled" will now appear. This is the default name of your mod.
    4. Press "Files" (to the right of "File"), hover over "add" in the menu, and then hit "from pack" in the sub menu that appears. You should then be redirected to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Total War Attila\data" or something similar. If not, navigate to the data folder for Attila Total War.
    5. Inside this directory, you will see many .pack files. You are looking for one called "local_en.pack". Once you have found it, double left click on it.
    6. This should bring up a white box in Pack File Manager, at the top of which it should say "local_en.pack". Next to it there should be a small + sign. Press that plus sign.
    7. This should open up a menu consisting of three items: "font", "text" and UI. Press the + sign next to where it says "text".
    8. This should open up another menu. This time, press the + sign next to the word "db" (aka database).
    9. Now you will be met with another menu filled with hundreds of different files. Navigate down to a file called "factions.loc" and double left click on it. At the bottom of the white box, it should now say text/db/factions.loc added.
    10. Now press "Ok".
    11. The white panel will now close, but underneath where it says "untitled", you should now see that some menus have appeared. These menus should be entitled text, and below that db. Underneath where it says "db" factions.loc should have appeared. It should look like something like this:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    12. Double left click on the factions.loc file. To the right, you should see a table appear which is full of text lines, such as "You are defending against the Jutes!".
    13. You now have two options. One is to scroll through this list and every time you come across a faction name you would like to change, click on the row in which it appears, and change it to whatever you like. Remember that the list is pretty long, so you'll have to scroll all the way through, looking out for the faction name you would like to change. Also note that the faction name will appear multiple times throughout in different text lines. Also note that you should only be editing the right hand column.
    14. Once you have changed what you like, hit file, save as, and name your mod whatever you want. Make sure that it is saved in the data folder.
    15. When you load up Attila, make sure that the mod is activated in the mod manager, and your changes should appear.

Option two is to export the factions.loc table as a tsv so that you can use the control f function to search for the faction name without having to scroll through the entire list looking for it.

To do this, following the following steps:

    1. At the top of the table, there should be a button that says "export tsv". Press it. It should look like this:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    2. It will now ask you to save it. Here you will save the file as "factions.tsv", making sure to add the ".tsv" to the end of the name. Save the file to your desktop.
    3. Now go to googledrive.com. If you do not have an account, make one. You should be able to sign in with gmail account.
    4. Once there, it should look something like this:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    5. Press New and the File Upload.
    6. Find the "factions.tsv" that you saved to your desktop, and click it.
    7. Once the file has been uploaded, it should now appear in your googledrive. Double left click on it. It should now appear in table format.
    8. At the top of this table, there should be a button called "edit". Press it. This should open the file in a excel style spreadsheet so that you can edit it.
    9. For easier visibility, extend the width of the columns by dragging them across from the top, just as you would in excel.
    10. Press Control and F to bring up the search bar in the top right of the Screen. Now search for whatever faction name it is that you would like to change, and then change them. Again, remember not to change anything in the left hand column, only the right.
    11. Once you are done, hit file > download as > tsv.
    12. Go back to PFM and the factions.loc table.
    13. Next to where it says Export TSV, it should say Import TSV. Click it, and select the file that you just downloaded. This will import your tsv into PFM.
    13. Now Save the mod as whatever you want (making sure that it is a .pack file in your data folder) and then run the game.

    Hope this helps.
