Thread: Han era siege warfare

    Default Han era siege warfare

Many games and their multiple modification versions covering the Three Kingdoms period have been released so far. Unfortunately, the mods based on the "Total War" series lack Chinese specificity concerning siege warfare. Battering rams, siege engines and ladders are the defaults tools for Romans and latter Western medieval battlefields, but as correctly modeled in the vintage game series "Three Kingdoms: Fate of the Dragon" and "Dragon Throne: Battle of Red Cliffs", serious players would like to use "Kongming Wagon" tethered reconnaissance manned hot air balloon, "Malefic Kite" two seater manned propelled gliders used to assault ramparts, and obviously "Thunder Wagon " trebuchets (better than the anachronic old Western torsion catapults).
Otherwise, laying siege looks like a "deja vu".

Sorry, but not all mod developers think so. The team of an other Three Kingdoms era modification, HAN ZHI SHANG v1.03 acknowledges this with the following statement when asked with the same question:

Siege warfare has always been the weakness of MTW2 (Let alone the AI) but with Han Zhi Shang, you have a chance to experience the San Guo period from a strategic point of view, and most of the battles (Aside from Chi Bi) are quite close to the actual history
