As part of the massive project of reskinning all general variants, here's a little preview of Alaric (King of the Visigoths).
And another one featuring a WIP of Flavius Honorius:

That's awesome Maximus! Do the unplayable faction will have their generals modded too? All the germanic unplayable generals have the same helmet
Thank you! Yes, all factions will in one way or another have their generals reworked. CA really went overboard on the uniformity of everything in this game, so there's a lot to iron out. My approach as it stands right now, is to have each general variant look as unique as possible. So each Faction leader skin for each general won't have the same helmet etc. This does also mean that I'll get rid of the faction specific leader skins, like with the alamans, langobards, franks etc, since it doesn't make all that much sense. Instead there will be a diverse pool of variants that will be available to all barbarian factions. Not sure if I'll do a seperate set for east vs west germans, but I might.
That's amazing! Good luck for the great work!
So it turns out CA had the right idea with a dark diffuse layer, brighter specular for metal. I was noticing attempts at new scale looked really unsatisfactory and like it was too white. I'm probably not (watch me make a liar of myself) going to go back and redo the existing scale/lamellar armor right now, but I plan to in the future and will definitely follow this formula going forward. The exact level of shine (it's a bit bright here) might be off, but it looks so much better - like actual metal.
Left is an example of my old scale approach, right is an example of the new.
And quite literally right after writing that I won't go back and fix up the earlier lamellar and scale, I am starting to do so.

Yes and the new FX introduced by the latest official patch goes further in this direction but like before there are some cases where they have over darkened the models by this process. I don't blame them anyway because it's really difficult to appreciate the final result under all light and weather conditions.
@Maximus183
The ostrogoth leader look amazing! (and the others too)

I do not like the new saxon king, what a grandfather? Old one was powerful and brutal person.
King Gewis has more of the look of, "Look, son, I'm old. This is a comfy throne. You'll regret making me get up." I like it.
