RESOLVED! slow and corrupted graphics during wall assaults, yet everything else is ok

I have an ATI Radeon X800XT Platinum running at stock speeds, with the most up to date drivers (which I've already reinstalled once). Everything in the game works great, except for battles that involve walls in any way whatsoever. The walls will simply disappear, I can't control troops, buildings in cities disappear, the ground looks bizarre, you name it. Even the control panel disappears, and the game slows to a crawl even on minimum settings. Here's an example: http://img86.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mtwfo8.jpg

How I fixed this: Go into Catalyst Control Center and fiddle around with the Catalyst A.I. setting. It worked for me when I set it to Advanced.

I have a smililar problem ,when i assault settlements the game slows down to a crawl.
I heard that this has to do with ATI graphic cards
Rest of the game works fine
I have a ATI 9800 radeon pro

Sieges don't slow down to a crawl for me. Sometimes I get 1-5fps 'stutters' every couple of minutes, then it's fine for the rest of the game or so. That's actually probably just the many background apps I have running however.

I'm having this same problem, but with an Nvida card (A 6600GO to be precise). Can someone explain what setting they've changed in an ATI card to solve this, so I can try to find an nVidia equivalent? I'm trying to defend a siege of my capital city and can't

Is there still text corruption with Catalyst AI enabled? I remember this was an issue in the demos.
