Default Using CD with external DVD drive?

I'd bought my CD around 2007. Never registered in Steam.

My DVD drive stopped working around a few months back. I bought a potable DVD reader/ writer & it's worked perfectly since when it comes to movies & stuff. Today I wanted to play Med2 but for some reason, I keep on getting the No Disk Found error. The system is detecting the CD in Drive E: but is it possible that it's trying to read the default D: and so is sending this error message.

I'm not very good at computers so any help will be appreciated.

This is most likely the reason, to change this you will have to change registry entries - that is not for the faint of heart. Either you re-install from disc again or you can still register your game with steam if you have the installation key - it will actually enable you to download from Steam plus the kingdom campaigns are available as a free DLC.
