Default How to Sanitation: A Five Minute Guide

People are stinky and have terrible hygiene. Without proper healthcare, they'll sprout cysts and explode your settlement in a giant ball of puss and puke. To keep that from happening, you'll need to properly sanitize your settlements. Here's a quick five minute guide to sanitation.

What about the Germanic religious chain that grants bonus to sanitation?

I wouldn't mind a guide to optimal builds for provinces. It will take a while before my poor old brain can learn the ropes. More critical in warscape since there are only limited number of building slots. I've been watching AP's WRE vids on youtube. I find his commentary style very entertaining.
Proculus: Divine Caesar, PLEASE! What have I done? Why am I here?
    Caligula: Treason!
Proculus: Treason? I have always been loyal to you!
Caligula: [laughs insanely] That IS your treason! You're an honest man, Proculus, which means a bad Roman! Therefore, you are a traitor! Logical, hmm? Ha, ha, ha!

    That's a great idea Wulfgar!

@Welsh Dragon, the sassinids have that as well, but it's so underpowered that it's practically not worth getting.

AP was saying on today/s vid that he thought the province at Massilia would be a good spot for a military province, perhaps because the wine resource aid both happiness and food production. One might want to reserve metal bearing provinces for industrial gain, while others benefit commercial gain. Haven't as yet gotten in building military improvements, or industrial or commercial. Which ones precisely are the commercial buildings that give a bonus?

Can't really speak with much authority as I don't put all that much thought into province builds as a whole, but I'm pretty sure that the best city building for happiness (as WRE) is going down the governor's house chain. At the top level it gives more money than the theatres, high public order bonus with no squalor vs the theatres, costs as much food as their top level buildings do and also gives a +10% buff to all building wealth.

Aaand that's it. That's as much as I've planned. This sounds incredibly nerdy but I think it would be great if someone somewhere were able to come up with some kind of excel sheet/program that simulates the buildings you can get in a province, allowing you to "create" a province and see what effects it would have. So you'd have your 3 regions and X amount of building slots in each and you get to choose what kind of buildings are in there and it shows you the public order/squalor/income etc that would result from it.

On normal difficulty, the gov's house is probably the best chain. For legendary, though, you need Gov's house, circus, AND the aqueduct to maintain happiness with high lvl buildings. See my Public order vid for more details.

The annoying thing about the low slots to build in settlements is that by the time one builds enough sanitation and food for the province, there's only a couple of slots left for anything useful, even fewer if you have a resource eating up a slot or two.

Tailoring a province is a serious issue in Warscape. Higher level military buildings chew food and created public order problems. In the end you might be wanting a choice Governor to make the difference.

In the current meta, at high difficulties, I would say its done on purpose so that you can only have one or two extremely interesting mil/eco buildings per provinces.

Short version, wells in both minor provinces, stores in the capitol (if playing Celts, add at least one religious sanitation building (because everyone knows religion helps people stay clean and ****), don't upgrade the city in the capitol province beyond tier III and you're done.

With the Celts you can add in the generals skill tree. Get a general to rank 5, put 2 points in sanitation and 2 in public order. Replace him then make him the governor of a high income province. +6 sanitation, +4 public order, +10% tax for the local province and 2 authority for possibly more public order.

Why would you waste extremely good provinces (Wine/Olive Oil) for military provinces? Go for the least usefull resource province (like Timber) and then put there military buildings, put some +PO buildings, and exempt from the tax. No need for the food, and you do not have to worry for tax penalty. Wine/Olive Oil provinces are EXTREMELY VALUABLE - they allow you to go full retard with buildings. Or maybe should I just go back to the spread sheets as I was doing in Rome 2, to find some crazy combinations?

    Thanks, rex!

Butan, you can have four major econ or mil buildings a province. Ill make a detailed vid about sample builds later.

Nice vid. After playing 3 consecutive barb campaigns, where I became accustomed to one sanitation bldg per region (which worked fine btw), appears that I've been way overbuilding sanitation in my current ERE run (first try at one of the Roman factions).

Additional question though: do I really need the top Level IV sanitation buildings? Because those old "legacy" techs get superseded in the civil tree...once I buy those church-related techs, I won't be able to build Cloaca/Thermae, etc. (yes, I'm trying to maintain Greek Christianity rather than go the pagan reversion route). So I guess I need to hold off on Canonical Law, etc, until I max out sanitation in all the core provinces that I intend to fully develop?

I wouldn't take the last four techs except when I've fulfilled all other victory conditions and just need to build threats four or five buildings for the divine victory, imho. Those middle techs, the religious ones, are some of the worst techs in the game. And completely a historical and anti-religious.
