    Default My mod

    I've been trying to add the greek cities to BI for my mod and i ran into a problem.

    Can anyone help me please?

    first of all you can't add greek_cities as a faction you have to replace an existing BI faction ... otherwise you break the 21 faction hard coded limit.

    2nd internal renaming of another faction to greek_cities although perfectly possible will not help you at all, if you want another faction to appear as greek cities in game; what you need to change is the external naming so
    {celts} = greek cities etc. Then you still have to import into EDU EDB BMB etc all the relevant references for the greek cities units applied to the faction you're converting (celts / whatever) then also paste over that factions flags banners, etc with greek cities ones. You can't just try and use the faction names from one games folders to another's without a lot of text editing, one way or another...

    Also the error you're getting at the moment is because you're trying to use 'greek' on its own which was a culture in RTW but isn't in BI, so that's not going to work at all unless you either convert another culture or add one......

    EDIT: and as you are modding game this really belongs in mod workshop.

    Ok thanks but i thought BI had one faction slot free So ill take out Franks change the name to Greek Resistance take out their units and buildings and add the building units e.t.c from RTW and it should work right?

    Sort of, I'm not sure you've understood difference between internal and external re-naming - what I was suggesting you do (because its easier and there isn't really any advantage for you in trying to do it the other way) is leave the faction you're replacing in as the internal name for the game engine - so for example in descr_strat, EDU and EDB etc you still have franks as the faction name. But you edit expanded_bi.txt for the franks references so you have
    {EMT_FRANKS_CAPITAL} Greek Resistance Capital
    etc.....

    That will get you a faction that says its Greek Resistance in game but still has all original franks units - to give them units from RTW refer to tutorials on adding new units. Buildings would be slightly harder, you can change the text that appears about their buildings by adding faction specific descriptions in export_buildings.txt - but to change the tga's / models that appear for the buildings you'd need them to have a unique culture - you can add a new culture to BI see:

    but that is quite complicated and I confess I haven't tried that yet.

    If you can live with your greeks {franks} buildings and cities looking like one of the existing cultures (eastern or roman?) then you'll probably save yourself a lot of problems......
