    Default Converting to Minor Religions

    Information and Questions

I started a Langobards campaign immediately heading south to take Dimmidi. The Gaetulians are minor religions at the start but it's in decline. I got there with it at 37%, having abandoned my home region the turn before I was able to immediately convert.

You need gemstones to build the Shrine of a Dark Cult

You can't build it in the regions capitol(walled city)

    Cost 9000 range, 5 turns

The factions that start off as minor religions seem to be in north Africa over into Arabia

The Shrine of a Dark Cult is the only religious building available to minor religions, no upgrades

    Minor religions don't get priests

You don't get the religious edicts(public order or religious influence)

    Questions
    1) Should I always put the Shrine in the non resource region of the province

    2) What buildings should I build in a standard province along with the Shrine as well as a 3 port province(pic of current Tripolitana province below)

    3) Would it be better to go after another minor religions faction rather then the Gaetulians to convert. I just went after them because of the gemstones

    4) It's taking a long time to convert the roman buildings and lots of money. Would it be better to try and split my forces at the start, sending one army after a minor religions faction to convert and leaving one behind to reestablish myself in central Europe

    5) Is there anyway to tell the minor religions percentage at the start for those factions, something I can mouse over before I take that region. I can check the percentage once I control it but before that

    6) My governor in Africa province has a wife that helps spread the state religion. What else can I get to help the spread.

    7) Are there any other factions outside of the north Africa/Arabia area that are minor religions

Post any other thoughts you might have on it.

I didn't realize you could actually build this building. I thought it was in the files, but unable to be constructed. Is that gemstone requirement hidden maybe?

But you know what could be a good idea? Convert back to a major religion as soon as you can, but keep that Shrine building. Its benefits probably outweigh the negatives, as long as you get enough sanitation in the province. You'd need another religious building too, of course.

Also there are other regions with Minor Religions as their local traditions outside Africa/Arabia. Sarmatia, Scythia, Caucasus, and Transcaspia I think also have enough Minor Religion traditions that you could convert. As the Alans, you can convert on turn 1 by settling in Tanais - but there aren't any gemstones near there.

I should of realized that before. You can just recolonize Duna to the east of the Geats. 3 local traditions for minor religions, 3 local traditons for tengri, 2 local traditions for germanic paganism. Minor religions is high enough to convert right away, Tengri will get high enough after a while and it has gemstones.

That building is pretty overpowered lol. +20 public order is very high for anything you can build in a town, especially at level 1.

Click diplomacy, when the map pops up in the background look at the top right of your screen.. there are some really small check boxes that highlight different things on the map... one box is for religion as you hover over a region it tells you the religious %.

I tried minor religion once as Saxons... I migrated first turn and went top right of the black sea, there's a 45% minor religion region and a desolate settlement with gems. Wats out for the Huns

Its an obvious joke, and more then a little difficult to set up in a viable manner, but if you can pull it off, you get access to the best building in the game. On the other hand, no priests, religious dissent wherever you conquer, and squalor that is plain and simple unmanageable early on, especially with a barbarian faction's poor sanitation options.

More trouble then its worth I'd say, with the exception of a self imposed challenge. Most practical way to do it seems to be conquering the region east of the Geats, though seeing as the settlement with the gems is desolate, it'll take a while before it pays off. Probably best to conquer the province fully before settling the desolate region.
