How is the new version of EBII working? Should I patch in the Late Roman Legionaires ?

Well, this fantasy "heavy" version certainly would be, but the Romans certainly did create a torsion catapult called the onager, as described by the 4th century historian Ammianus Marcellinus. Even during the late Republican period, the Romans slowly adopted the siege artillery of ancient Greece that had already existed for a couple centuries by that time. Before that the Romans mostly used ladders for scaling walls and rams to smash open gates, although they also gradually adopted the rolling siege tower and underground sapping beneath enemy fortifications.

I got mine to work a bit, but they're holding their shields incorrectly and they don't stay in formation like legionaries from DBM:

Cool! That's good to hear. Although you'd have to add the animations and skeleton files to the animations .dat pack files, would you mind taking a stab at adding those Han Chinese crossbowmen I suggested as well? The problem, however, is that the EB II animation folders lack crossbow animations altogether. I tried doing it but I failed miserably.
EDIT: Please remember to make sure that, when you add the new legionaries to the export_descr_buildings file, you make it so that they only appear with the Marian reforms. Obviously it would make no sense to have them available in 272 BC. Even 100 BC is also pushing it historically speaking, but we'll let that slide since there are no "imperial reforms" in the campaign_script that can be activated for these units. They'll just have to be lumped in with the Marians, unfortunately. Just make sure they're only available in the latest, most elite barracks the Romans can build.
Also, here's some suggested stats for them, since DBM stats are somewhat overpowered compared to EB II:

That's still overpowered; essentially there's no reason for them to have different stats to the Cohors Reformata and other Marian units.
How's it going ? I'm hanging out to use these with my Roman empire.![]()

Yeah...I'm curious about the progress as well. Any news there, midnite? Like I said above, I tried doing this and got them to appear in the game and work for the most part, but the manner in which they hold their shields is completely wrong. Are you having similar problems?

If you're looking for Marian legions alin already made the models/body textures, gustave made the shield textures, paullus concepted them. (I'm fairly certain I remember those credits correctly, in any case the EBII team made them.) And yes, they're in EBII 2.1b already.
