    Default The Fallen Age Submod

After a lot of thinking and rewriting, I have scrapped the concept of a mod set beyond Hyrule's eastern border. Rather, I'm working on weaving the nations from the various spin-off works into an alternate timeline in which the Goddesses have reigned supreme over the Druthulidi. It is not a golden era of peace and prosperity. It is an age of rot and war and treachery as the children of the goddesses fight over the world they have conquered, and those races no lucky enough to not be "blessed" struggle to survive and enact vengeance on their Hylian opressors.

    Premise

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The Fallen Age is set in an alternate timeline is which the Goddesses truly won the Purge- the Druthulidi all seemingly died or were forced from Hyrule, and Majora was sealed in Termina for good. As a result, Ikana never turned to the dark side, the Darknuts never waged war on the wind tribe, and yet history repeated itself in different but familiar ways. The ancient Hylians, coveting the Triforce and believing themselves the true children of the gods, attacked the Wind Tribe and forced them to take it into the heavens with them. Long before, Sulkaris tried to steal the Triforce, and tempted Evaleen, and the two were cast out. Sulkaris nearly destroyed all life with her Gohma hordes but was "killed" by a young girl name Hylia, who founded an Empire. Hyrule has reigned supreme for nearly five thousand years, but has slowly rotted from the inside and divided into competing kingdoms held in Allegiance only by tenuous bloodlines and ancient contracts. In the East, Labrynna rises on the power of Steam, but will face competition in the form of the Kingdom of Moria in Holodrum and the Dark Faries who rule it from the shadows. The Ordonians, known as the Tolemac, rule in the south, having long ago warred with and enslaved the Moblins, and are blighted by a insurgency known as the "Brotherhood of the Underworld." and in the West, the Zuna Empire and their Darknut armies face war from the island of Koridai and its Gerudo-descended natives, who seek vengeance for being driven out of their homeland long ago.

Nice idea, I'm liking the dark dragons as a faction, but why would the Empire of Bellum still exist if Bellum and his slimy were turned into tasty calamari by the golden ladies?

    @Tedster

In this alternate timeline Bellum's fate is kind of nebulous, though I'm going in with the prenotion that it's either dead or left Hyrule along with most of the other Druthulidi except Majora. The whole thing about the "destruction" of them is really BS anyways, they're just better hidden in this world. The Paralla are essentially late to this news, having just recently (in cosmic terms) arrived from the Realm of Twilight. Without their god, they're really lost, and figure they may as well conquer Hyrule and take out the Zora (and Zola, in this case) for their perceived betrayal. Hyrule is overwhelmingly goddess worship, with some other lesser deities, both familiar and unfamiliar, having appeared.

That's actually a good idea, one I hadn't considered yet. Seline is indeed Nylin Zelda and her brother Daltus' mother, by a brief marriage of alliance to Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule. Duke Harkinian and his brother Onkled are the Kings cosins, and Prince Oberon of Arcadia is the Kings bastard son. Shurmak is not related to the RF, as she is a politically elected/appointed leader.

The brotherhood will be a "hidden" faction somewhat like the Sheikah and Wizzrobe. In HTW Spectacle Rock is actually inside Death Mountain Crater- you csn see it in the custom settlement. Th BOTU will probably be based out of Demise, though the citys name will be different.

I've been thinking about the fates of the major empires on the Great Sea without Bellum around to screw thing up, and figured while the war would still inevitable happen (3 advanced world powers getting along in Hyrule? ), its effects woudl be lessesened, and the desperation of various sides, such as the Oshunites' Phantom Army and the Cobble Kingdoms turn to Bellum worship and magical sleep, wouldn't occur. In this timeline ,the war basically ended in a destructive stalemate for all three sides, leaving the Oshus Empire in ruin and the survivors to flee and establish undersea kingdoms elsewhere, the Lokomo to regress to industrial/Labrynna era technology and engage in centuries of Great-War style internal civil strifes, and the Cobble Kingdom to collapse into many warring kingdoms and states that composed its vast territory as people began to reclaim their ancient cultural identities. The Oshus are still extant, but no one knows what happened to them.

As of the modern era, the Lokomo have reunited from three great kingdoms into a European-style federation and are now moving south into Hyrule, having established a colony on the northern island of Wayaway (where Subrosia is on the map) and many Eastern kingdoms, under the rule of a previously unknown Hylian offshoot (Sing's people) have reunited into a "Nova Cobble Kingdom" and are invading Hyrule from the northeast of Natzu. Needles to say, I'm axing the Stalfos, and Lorule to clear room and I wanted to get rid of any Druthilidi-created faction. The Subrosians are still around in terms of the lore, just living in blissful ignorance underground, as Samasa has no rift into their underworld.

Do you not think Calatia could be a Province of Hyrule in Horon and east death mountain?

@Calatia was located west of Death Mountain in the comics, beyond Hyrule's borders. I had interpreted Calatia as more traditionally Hylian than Hyrule by this point-after all, it controls the Kingdom's first two settlements, Snowpeak and Vigjaro. Besides, it looks like the Ancient Hylians never got further east than Seshei.

Also do you think there could be Gerudo Moblin cross breeds for the brotherhood? they would look like Ganon did in the Animated series. Also will Krim be a General for Calatia or Hyrule?

    @Darnokthemage
I'm not a huge proponent of the Moblins being able to crossbreed with everything. The Zora are able to get away with it by the excuse of being (possibly xenodimensional) aliens, but the Blins are a native mammalian species of Hyrule and genetics just don't work that way. The Hinox obviously have a common enough ancestry (lets hope ) with the Moblins to crossbreed-but I doubt hominid-analogues and giant-blue boar people could produce any sort of viable offspring without serious genetic/technological manipulation.

I'm not sure what do so with Krin just let, maybe make him an alternate-universe equivalent to General Kazaak.

Since links uncle Alfron was the leader of the Kings guard he was given the little Hamlet of Lon Lon Village to spend his remaining days. Alfron hailed from a long line of Calitian Noblemen and swordsmiths. his father and the king had been friends since childhood, therefore did Alfron get job as an squire to the king. (im sorry but that im so bad at writing long posts)

And for the record, in this interpretation, "Dark Ore" is just a Hylian name for a substance similar to oil or coal.

Well, I've tentatively fleshed out my first faction- the Lokomo Colonists. This was a fun one. The Lokomo in the base game seem to been quite advanced, with cybernetics and who-knows what else, but after centuries of civil wars they have only recently reunified and progressed back to a WWI-era "deiselpunk" society based on Dark Ore.

    Lokomo Colonists
    Color: Bronze
    Religion: No Deity Worship
    Culture: Civilized
    Rivals: Cobble Kingdom

Survivors of a Great War with the Oceanites and the Cobble Kingdom in the Ancient era, the Lokomo Federation once possessed a vast technologically advanced empire that streched across much of the northern world. After centuries of internal strife and social decay, they have lost much of their legacy, but the sheer inundation of technology in Lokomo culture enabled them to recover quickly despite the devastation of the war and following conflicts. The Lokomo dominate much of the Great Sea through their Dark Ore-fueled navy of iron ships, and have colonized countless islands beyond their home continent of Wayaway, erecting vast systems of rail-lines to link their bustling towns and cities. However, deep division still exist in Lokomo culture- the continent of Wayaway was not so long ago split between three warring nation-states of Lokomo, who unified only after generations of conflict supposedly sparked by a love triangle between two Princes over the hand of a Lokomo Princess. The peoples of these nations still hold proudly to their heritage despite being unified under a Lokomo Federation, and often wear red, white, or yellow to signify their origins of these old countries.

The Lokomo, in their quest for expansion and resources, have recently come to Hyrule's shores, settling on a system of islands north of Misery Mire. The coal deposite of those swamps could power their machines, albeit not effectively as Dark Ore, if they could brave the wild gohma that infest the mire. The Lokomo boast the most advanced technology of any faction in Hyrule, including utterly crushing siege and naval gunpowder units, but their colonial armies are not the bravest and prefer hit and run guerilla tactics over defensive turtling, and will crumble if faced with heavy cavalry or infantry charges.

Nope, they're both long dead. Salasrahla started aging again after giving his Sage power to Rauru in both timelines. An Aginah is just a normal Ancient Hylian- she would be dust by the time Ganon was born. I'm considering switching up the Sages- replacing Ruto with Suprena from FOE as Sage of Water (whom I have merged with Lupina, I liked the concept of a Darknut Sage of Water for Koridia), perhaps Gaspra or Shurmak as Sage of Light.

I should also mention I took your advice in sticking Calatia in Dominion Valley, DarnoktheMage- it's a Valley, it's close to Death Mountain, and fits nice with "South Hyrule' from the original LOZ. Hyrule has Vigjaro again- it was getting too cramped up there with the Rito/Watarara being where Lanayru are. The Zuna Empire has been replaced by the Zazakku, whom now rule the Darknut Legion and Zuna as a puppet state. Koridai is still a Gerudo-dominant nation, but is home to the remnants of the free Darknuts, Zuna, and other desert species whom escaped the Zazakku's rule. The Gorons are now a "secret" faction like the wizzrobe/sheikah to fit with their status as a rebellion and the Volvagians rule all of Death Mountain.

I'm strongly considering killing off Rauru as well. The problem is thatcan't think of a way to keep Sahasrahla around that makes sense.
In terms of the line of Sages I'm thinking of going

    Light
    Solahrasin
    Sahasrahla
    Rauru
    Shurmak (passed down by Rauru)

    Water
    Malkorbagia
    Jabun
Suprena (Suprena gained the Sagehood in the War between Hyrule/Darknuts and the Zora/Windtribe)

    Fire
    Mapheus
    Dakkon

    Forest
    Sulkaris
    Palagard
Kasuto (works with the Deku Tribes/Huskus in this Timeline)
    Roperi

    Spirit
    Kalavoo
    Yaraxonal
    Ipo the Reader

    Shadow
Evaleen (stripped of title after betraying the Goddesses)
    Impa
    Raven

    Time
    Demoko
    Hectan
