    Icon8 SLI GTX 770 + 16 GB RAM + i7 4790k terrible perfomance

    Hello all,

I've been trying to play this game for two weeks now; and I've got to say, I've never seen so bad performance for a game as this one. I've got the specs posted in the title, and, while in Rome II with everything on maximum AND nvidia DSR at 1.50x I get 60fps, while I play this game on 1080p and on quality setting, when I zoom in, it should be bold to say that my I can achieve 30 fps. There must be somethings wrong here; even when I downgrade the settings, my machine still struggles with the game. I've tried different combinations of settings, and while I managed to acknowledge that "screen spaced reflections" (or something), "particle effects" and SSAO are the most demanding ones, even turning these down/off doesn't seem to cut it. I've also found out that changing the SLI profile to Rome's II one in nvidia inspector MAJORLY improves performance, but distant terrain textures keeps on flickering. So, I don't have the faintest ideia of what could be wrong here. My specs are good, I play Rome in 1440p and settings maxed out with 60fps and Attila doesn't look that good to be so graphical consuming. To point it all, framerates SHOULD be better in my case. Is there something I'm missing here?

    Thanks in advance.

There seems to be no proper SLI support for Attila yet.

You can choose between the default SLI profile which gives you the same performance as a single card.
Or you can select another profile but then u usually get flickering due to incompatibilities.

It seems that NVIDIA needs to provide proper SLI support in their driver.

Btw, on one website in the recent Titan-X reviews they also tested with Attila and a SLI configuration. And that config also didn't scale.

    you need more ram

Just to add: both 770's are OC2 4gb each.
    More ram? Isn't 16gb 1866 enough?

I'm also running 2x GTX 770s in SLI, but with 2GB of VRAM each. Performance scaling for me has been lackluster.

maximum quality: 41% improvement in SLI
    max 54 / min 31 / avg 40,6 - SPARTAN VI, Intel Core i5 3570K, 4.4 GHz, Asrock Z77 Extreme, 16 GB RAM 1600 MHz CL 11-11-11-30 2T@1.50 Volts DualChannel, 2x PNY GTX 770, Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit
    max 36 / min 21 / avg 28,8 - SPARTAN VI, Intel Core i5 3570K, 4.4 GHz, Asrock Z77 Extreme, 16 GB RAM 1600 MHz CL 11-11-11-30 2T@1.50 Volts DualChannel, PNY GTX 770, Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit

    quality: 1.8% improvement in SLI
    max 67 / min 40 / avg 49,4 - SPARTAN VI, Intel Core i5 3570K, 4.4 GHz, Asrock Z77 Extreme, 16 GB RAM 1600 MHz CL 11-11-11-30 2T@1.50 Volts DualChannel, 2x PNY GTX 770, Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit
    max 71 / min 38 / avg 47,6 - SPARTAN VI, Intel Core i5 3570K, 4.4 GHz, Asrock Z77 Extreme, 16 GB RAM 1600 MHz CL 11-11-11-30 2T@1.50 Volts DualChannel, PNY GTX 770, Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit

    performance: 2% loss in SLI
    max 80 / min 56 / avg 66 - SPARTAN VI, Intel Core i5 3570K, 4.4 GHz, Asrock Z77 Extreme, 16 GB RAM 1600 MHz CL 11-11-11-30 2T@1.50 Volts DualChannel, 2x PNY GTX 770, Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit
    max 79 / min 46 / avg 67,6 - SPARTAN VI, Intel Core i5 3570K, 4.4 GHz, Asrock Z77 Extreme, 16 GB RAM 1600 MHz CL 11-11-11-30 2T@1.50 Volts DualChannel, PNY GTX 770, Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit

maximum performance: 9% improvement in SLI
    max 162 / min 93 / avg 116,5 - SPARTAN VI, Intel Core i5 3570K, 4.4 GHz, Asrock Z77 Extreme, 16 GB RAM 1600 MHz CL 11-11-11-30 2T@1.50 Volts DualChannel, 2x PNY GTX 770, Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit
    max 129 / min 73 / avg 106,1 - SPARTAN VI, Intel Core i5 3570K, 4.4 GHz, Asrock Z77 Extreme, 16 GB RAM 1600 MHz CL 11-11-11-30 2T@1.50 Volts DualChannel, PNY GTX 770, Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit

The higher the settings, the larger the spread, but it's nowhere acceptable scaling. I'm considering trading my GTX 770s for a single GTX 970 soon. P.S. I highly doubt more RAM or even VRAM will help in your situation.

No way man, 2 770 4gb SLI gives a lot of firepower. It should definitely run better, I play every other major title at maximum with frames to spare. The problem is, the game at this state is unplayable to me, it's a shock to leave Rome's 50-60 fps to go play a game that looks much like the same and runs at 30fps in siege or forests battles. I was hoping there was something I could do, or another SLI profile I could use.
Maybe I could over clock my cpu, the 4790k goes up to 4.4 with no trouble. The problem is the heat though, I don't have the best of cooling system for the CPU. Does anyone know the maximum safe temperature for this one?
i should also try setting the unit size to medium, but that's a big bummer.
Or maybe the game is just badly optimized and I should wait.
    does anyone have any ideas?

Yes, but as long as there is no proper SLI profile for Attila (there is one for Rome 2) Attila will effectively only use a single GTX770. You can try other profiles though. Usually u will get some flickering but maybe u get lucky and find a working one.

Just for comparison of what about to expect if SLI would scale properly:
    2x7970 @ 1050Mhz GPU, 4770K@4.2Ghz, 32GB RAM @ 1866Mhz, Win7-64bit
    min avg max
    34 - 42 - 49 extreme
    40 - 50 - 66 max quality
    47 - 60 - 80 quality

The GTX770 is about 20% faster then the 7970Ghz edition so u should get sth. like 50fps avg in extreme, 60fps max quality and 70fps quality.

Actually, there is a SLI profile for Atilla in nvidia inspector. It is the same as shogun 2. However, I doubt that it is working properly
