What does one need to do to get the Alliance option in diplomacy?
I have been playing as The Moors and were at war with Venice for a very long time. I wanted to ally with HRE, which was an ally of Venice, but otherwise had no allies that were my enemies (or vice versa). Venice was an ally of HRE, and I wanted to ally with HRE; so after about 200 turns or so, I've ceasefired with Venice. Yet I still do not get the Alliance option in diplomacy with HRE (even after getting my relations to outstanding).
Does anybody know the game mechanic concerning this? Do I need to wait a certain number of turns for HRE to get used to the idea I'm no longer at war with their ally?

Ah, I think I figured out the reason after reading this thread:

It seems it is impossible to ally with a faction if you have destroyed one of their allies (HRE was allied with England earlier and I had destroyed them). I wonder if this is a bug or a planned occurence.

It is similar if you want one of your allies to stop eating against another . Say you have an ally with Germany and the French , and they go to war ( which they do in almost every game ) now you must choose to which side you will stay , the aggressor or the aggressed on . However once you do this . You can make those two sides neutral toward each other again simply by reinstating your alliance with the faction you dropped . Depending on the influence your faction has on the world 9 times of ten both parties will stop war because you reinstalled the alliance . If France went to war on Germany and you chose to stay with France for what ever reason . You can re ally with Germany and France will most likely drop the war , this doesn't usually last long tho . And in other cases I have prevented a war between two sides from the entire game on doing this once .

I don't think so , because I have had many of this such occasion currently as the Mongols in s.s 6.4 kwarisam was an ally of the cuman khanate . They will not ally with you based on you being any enemy with there ally however many situations and out comes you can make can provide you with the opposite , for instance the first time I wared with the KE I did not destroy there empire fully , I offered the ceasefire and in some cases there closer ally will follow suit and cease with you as we'll , or if your looking for a particular alliance with a certain faction that will not ally with you due to war , you will have to end that war and bring your was enemy relations back up good relations . This meas fairly well ending a war and paying back the enemy . This will go well in the era of te other faction . And over time you should gain enough good favour to gain an alliance . Provided you have been good to the ally
