Surround sound

Hi,

After approx 6 years away from this game, i've bought the gold edition, loaded it up and SS 6.4 straight away..all looks fine, except, Having one of the more modern Asus sound cards and 5.1 speakers, i was hoping for surround sound as in my other games, but here im stuck with Miles fast 2.1 as it uses the old EAX / Soundblaster setup for surround!!!

Is there any patches or way around this, or am i stuck with 2.1??

Hmm - no answer? I don´t have an asus soundcard as my PC is as old as MTW2 - but i read that EAX 1+2 don´t need the creative licence and everything above to EAX 5 is some kind of software generated by the Asus GX driver. Also read that RTW had an alternative D3D driver - copying the miles folder to Your MTW installation should work. (You need to have RTW of course) Can´t really say anything about it - just had a look, because i need a new PC in future too, and the problem could be mine too - perhaps.

In the end it isn´t a StSt specific problem, but a MTW2 problem. Perhaps posting or moving this thread to the MTW2 hardware forums has better or more results.

Thanks, it seems all the EAX versions require the hardware....i'll just have to live with 2.1!! which is a shame
