Default Arabs and Africans DLC is probably coming soon.

Everyone seems to want the Britons playable, I personaly want more Nomads.

But has anyone of you ever botherd taking a closer look at the African and Arabian factions?

There are no unused edicts and traits for them in the data tables, but their units are fully fleshed out, unique, diverse and even feature unique units for Arabs and Africans.

    See for yourself.

These are the basic units available to all Arab and African Factions:

This is pritty unique for a set of factions that are unplayable. So I will predict that we will see them made playable in the near future.

I will be disapointed if this comes via DLC and nothing else is added and changed.

But I think there might be more unique units to come and hopefully a unique culture set so that these factions wont simply be clusterd together as "Eastern Empires".

From the looks of it North Africans will get better cavalry and spear infantry whilest Arabs receive better infantry and foot skirmishers.

I'm more or less convinced they're just going to "finish" the undeveloped factions and make them playable via DLC. I doubt they'll make full-on new units for them though.

Hoping for Bantu, Ghana, Ethiopia, Nubia and the Berbers to be added and fleshed out as fully as possible.

Why? Were any of them relevant to dominance of Eurasia in the 5th Century a.d. ? Or are you to factions what a squirrel is to nuts.

I think the excitement lay in recreating history, particularly with cultures/factions that weren't dominant or disappeared altogether.

I am really afraid what kind of roster CA would give them. Propably just more white, arab-clothes wearing copy&paste units with two or three random, almost naked black units with spears.

Even Aksum played a bigger role in "Eurasia" (Thanks for enlighten me that the game is only about Eurasia allthough on third of the African continent is on the map) then the Lombards (Played no role in the 5. century at all), Alans (Did they did anything else except of acccompanying the Vandals?), Jutes, Danes or Geats (Nothing to say to these pseudo-viking factions).

The Jutes Actualy existed and settled in Southern Britain during the later stages of this games campaign:

Unfortunatly in this game, they build pseudo empires in France since the game offers no incentive for nordic faction to invade Britain as they actualy did.

    Yeah.

And the Athenian "Empire" wasnt really an empire aswell.

And the Holy Roman Empire wasnt Holy wasnt Roman and wasnt an Empire.

But if you want to limit this game to factions which only managed to build an empire or survive that time period you should cut out the Western Roman Empire aswell.

I agree that the Vikings shouldnt be in. I think it would have been far better to instead of adding Scandinavia divide Greece into two provinces.

But this is a game. It`s a product. And a product is usualy structured arround what sells. And people like vikings.

Eventhough the Vikings in this game seem to be clusterd together rather heartless and mindless by what was obviously a developer under pressure to come up with something, so he just copied most of the Saxons.

I think the next DLC will be Celts, not this.

Very nice units indeed. I really like the kopesh.
However, the desert palatina defectors throw me a little bit of, IMO some of the barbarians, e.g. franks or langobards should get some defectors. Just seems more reasonable to me.

Does anyone see the possibility of a Rise of Islam DLC, maybe?

I actually brought this up a week or two ago: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...mads-in-Attila
I'd personally create nomadic Arab and African factions myself, but I'd rather wait and see if CA gets around to it.

Just a point of historical legitimacy, the Berbers defeated the Vandals in 2 major field battles and sacked the former Vandal capitol in the timeframe of the game.

I hope so! Playing as european barbarian is boring. They are more or less the same. We need more playable civilized faction. Cant wait to play as one of berber & arab factions.
