    Default Bloody Inquisitors

And I use the term bloody quite deliberately. I have not yet reached turn 50 of my first campaign and yet I have already had three good generals and a Prince of the Realm chargrilled alive by the Popes agents.

Does the Pope have something against the English or is this religeous cleansing normal for all Catholic factions? Is there any way of making your Generals more pious to help save them from the barbecue?

And while I am asking questions is there any definate news on the first patch. This problem with the AI not attacking you, even when it is on a sally battle is really annoying. I have also experienced the rather strange phenomenon of one unit of French militia spearmen trying to lay siege to my fortress at Caen loaded up with a full stack army.

Quite a few bugs to be addressed hopefully sooner rather than later by the looks of things.

I dunno about MTW2, but in the original I had dozens of assassins whose soul purpose was to kill inquisitors.

Fast track road to excommunication is it not? Particularly since my assassins so far have been pretty useless so far, being caught and killed on about 9 out of ten assassination attempts ai have made so far.

The religious cleansing is "normal" for all catholic factions from my experience. My 8-star Venetian general got burned and he was a famous crusader... I was even on good terms with the pope.

I had my veteran crusader King (English) burned at the stake. I tried using experienced assassins to get rid of the inquisitor but to no avail. They seem all powerful don't you think?

I had my legendary "King Rufus" hung by an Inquisitor who reminds me of a Texan cowboy.

King Rufus had conquered Scotland and Ireland, then given the French a good kicking too.

I'm going to hire several Assassins and make sure that Inquisitor gets his comeuppance.

You mean to say that my King Rufus (who succeeded William) was not unique? Hell, mine was burned by an Inquisitor too.

Yes, I do hate Inquisitors. It's a pity that my only army of 200 in the Papal States is hardly enough to conquer Rome. I imagine that every Catholic faction that I haven't declared war on would do so if I even dared to lay siege to it. It's time to get rid of Milan and Venice...

As the HRE those bastards burnt my faction leader at the stake, just as he was on his way to relieve a Sicilian siege at Bologna. The Pope reconciled me immediantly afterwards.(I was excommunicated for refusing to cease hostilities against Milan. I had no intention of letting those back stabbers live) Without the emperor standing by their side my town militia army was easily crushed by their veteran Norman knights.

I'm tempted to try to assassinate the Inquisitors. However all my assassins have around 5% chance to succeed. So I thought why bother?

Hmm it's weird, but I think that if you don't build churches then characters start getting ancillaries like ''Pagan Magician'' which seems to attract inquisitors...

Also for some weird reason only my insane characters have been burnt at the stake.

I built churches right from the word go in basically all my settlements as the happiness of my population is important to me in my role as a benign and kindly ruler. Did not make so much of a jot of difference as far as the Papal Gestapo was concerened.

I also instantly denounced any heretics that cropped up and I have a liberal sprinkling of Preists throughout my lands, and still my best Generals end up as toast. Perhaps Inquisitorial weeding and pruneing of your faction is scripted to occur no matter how holy or pious you attempt to be, just to add that little bit more difficulty and unpredictability to your campaign.

As I mentioned earlier, sending your assassins against them are a complete waste of time unless you are really, really lucky.

I think the Inquisition thing is a serious error from CA's side. In Middle Ages burning kings in their own lands for heresy was beyond all imagination. Konrad of Marburg tried to burn a german count, but the count was declared innocent by bishops, and Konrad was assasinated shortly thereafter.
No one knew by whom, of course

Too bad this cannot happen in MTW2...
CA should do something about it. Inquositors? Fine but we should be able to kill or banish them.

I assassinated the Texas Cowboy Inquisitor (lets just call him George).

He hung King Rufus, and the next turn he was assassinated by the luck of just 5% chance! The assassin is now somewhat legendary with ~5 subterfuge points to his name. He likes young princesses.

How unrealistic that they can burn a king... have you tried having a competent priest in the same army as your generals all the time, to see if it prevents heresy?

I had a cardinal with my king, his heir who was the best general in the army (assasinated by inquisator) and 2 other generals and about 12000 troops with them. (marching at milan who atacked) Still that black satan comes.

he later killed a priest who was blessed, and had a monk and an orthodox rating. disturbing indeed.

thats why i save the game before every turn. I refuse to allow an inquisitor to kill generals in castles and armies. Kings, princes, and priests who are of good rating. I will reload the game if these things happen. I can understand if the noble is byhimself and merchants i can see.

i had to quit my france game before i punched a hole in my screen at the sight of another Inquisitor. They decimated my rotal family and clerics and high ranking merchants. They did the same with my English when i started to move into France.
i started with spain and they havent bothered me at all, it seems they either like hanging about France or if they take down one of your family they go for the rest as well.
too many, too powerfull and they shouldnt be able to kill kings, royal family or Cardinals .
(P.s, sorry for the poor english spelling, english is my first language, i just suck at it)

They do seem to be just a (very) random act of destruction wandering around slaying characters, they also appear to be practically immune to assasination. Not sure why this was thought to be a good thing to put in the game?
