I think the factions we got in Rome 2 are a good place to start, and I'd personally love to see Bithynia as a Thracian state with a Hellenic ruling class, just because I'm fond of both hoplites and rhomphaiaphoroi, for different reasons for each.

Although, that does make me curious as to what hoplites you're planning on using. Will they be using the light linothorax or the heavy bronze cuirass?

This is my list of factions

I think that the lack of posting is not because people don't want to post but its because there is not much to post yet. I for one cant wait for this mod to get released. Rome's 2 period is my favorite period next to medieval one in TW series.

I think all factions from vanilla R2:EE should be in (or those that replaces them, geographically) + a few "unique" factions (for historical or flavour reasons) + all tribes.

I couldn't possibly choose, so you will just have to work you knuckles to the bone and do them all!
Seriously though, the east the big ones obviously with as many minor fringe kingdoms, as possible, plus I love the idea of spawning successor kingdoms- like Kommagene.

Germania the more the merrier thinking from a later Roman prospective, same applies to Gallia, Britannia and Iberia. Not just about Roman conquest, but cultural diversity.
    Sadly no India ...

Don't forget, no matter the faction, we are aiming at showing the wide range of cultures throughout the campaign with specific buildings and effects for different regions and political factions are different everywhere. Plus there will be tonnes of AOR units and mercenaries

How are you getting around the "missing" column in the aor section? I am reliable informed, at least for the moment we cannot do aor units.

There's always workarounds to issues like that. I have seen that region resources still exist, though I haven't seen them assigned to units from my quick glances (I'm still familiarizing myself with Attila). So, CA is using unit resources somehow just as in Rome 2. One way or the other (if they were removed), that's not an issue for us, though. Our recruitment will be done through main settlement lines and our current plan is to do unique main settlement lines for each region, anyway (a large amount of work). So, it's very easy for us to tweak the availability of units in a given region. So, ideally, we'd make use of unit resources as it would be a little simpler, but it's completely unnecessary for us to have AOR in Attila.

I'd like to have a variety of factions, and ideally all would be playable. But there are limitations or issues that arise with making all playable. UI related, mainly. In terms of faction selection, only so many will fit and this is one area where the Attila UI appears a bit less flexible to me than Rome 2. There seems to be less space, but I'll have to see how it all goes once I start working on it and see what specific limits are in terms of displaying faction groups and such.

Although, that does make me curious as to what hoplites you're planning on using. Will they be using the light linothorax or the heavy bronze cuirass?
This will all depend on the factions. I tend to be a bit of a stickler for historical accuracy. By 200 BC, hoplites were kind of limited in usage. The argument is kind of on-going. So I'll hold off on providing a more direct answer.

As long as I get to play as Rome, you'll see no complaints from me on faction roster!

Perhaps when it comes to hoplites, they could be strictly mercenary? Or, have them not in the rosters of the hellas area greeks due to pikes, but have them remain in the greek colonies that weren't influenced to change away from hoplite warfare yet, IE Syracuse, Masilla, Cimmeria, etc.

Most factions will actually have relatively small roster but with large amounts of AOR units and mercenaries available .

That makes a lot of sense for most armies of the era.

I'm surprised Cimbri aren't a horde, considering their history with Rome.

The Cimbri migration in the late 2nd century consisted of only a portion of the Cimbri along with some other groups represented on the map. The reality is that the area on the map needs to be filled and the Cimbri inhabited that area (or somewhere close to it) in later times. I have been trying to develop a reasonable way to incorporate a Cimbri invasion which I feel will be particularly useful for Attila given the later start date. I do want it represented, but making the Cimbri a horde faction at the start doesn't seem to do it for me.

In the Iberian peninsula, you are missing the only tribe that has continued to the present day - the Vascones/Varduli. There are interesting fighting styles and units, it would be a great play style. Thoughts?

Europa Barbarorum did a lot of research into this, you can borrow some of that.
