Laggy, Low FPS, Explain, Help Please!
I feel that empire, shogun, rome2, and atilla runs more smoothly than this on my computer, which is a Lenovo y50 laptop. I dont know why I cant seem to run this game smoothly, even without the mods it is still kind of slow... here are my specs
GPU: GeForce GTX 860M
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4710HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz
Memory: 8.00 GB RAM (7.91 Usable)
Current Resolution: 1920 x 1080, 60GHz
Driver Version: 347.52 (Latest)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1
I feel these specs should be able to handle such an old game just fine, but for whatever reason I am having laggy, slow movments be it on the campaign map or the battle map. HELP PLEASE
!

I think I'm having the same problem. I hadn't played the game for ages, but had changed nothing in the game files, then when I tried to load it today I got this problem.
The camera moves incredibly slowly and jerkily on the campaign map. I've tried changing the game's video settings, but it's equally bad on the highest and lowest settings.
What can possibly have changed, bearing in mind I haven't done anything to the game?

This is just a classic case of your pc being almost too good. I am fairly certain that med2 is so old that it cannot utilise your numerous cores and it in fact only uses the one. Similarly to how Sins of a Solar Empire works if you have played that.
I have very similar pc stats to yourself but I have I5 and I have no issues apart from the games inherent graphic problems (by this I mean that the following list are features that the absolute best and worst pc's will experience NO MATTER WHAT):
It will move slowly over the campaign map when you are zoomed out and panning over a wide area, or just moving over the campaign map sometimes does this.
Spies will always walk jittery and robotic in nature
Unit count of above 4000 (when grouped or bunched up) will often cause lag and slowed down gameplay
Panning over your units on the battle map (if you have over 4000 or so) will cause jittery and slow movement.
Unfortunately there is nothing you can do other than except that this game is very old and enjoy the Lord of the Rings-ness enough to ignore it or call it a day I am afraid.
