I have 1.40 - 2.20 load times, the main menu lags and stutters the campaign map does as well.
The actual battle performance isn't to bad but something is not right please help me.

Look around, it's common knowledge the game struggles, it's the Warscape engine Rome 2 and Attila are built on is outdated, and not well optimized at all. To put it in simplest terms possible, it just isn't capable of using all the capabilities of any system out there no matter how expensive your parts are.
Imagine a team of all-star's being coached by a 10 year old kid whose directions all the players absolutely have to follow... that's Warscape for you, just plain frustrating
I got some you tube videos showing how the game doesn't know how to use multiple CPU cores, etc.... but don't feel like it...... you could just spend a bit of time and dig through this and the official forum and you'll see that this is as good as it gets, until they built a new game with a new modern 64 bit engine

The only thing that gets me is I watch some of the Total war streamers on youtube and they have end turns around the 40 sec mark.
I've tried overclocking the CPU, reinstalling the game, verifying cache.
Taking it off the SSD and onto a normal HD and nothing helps.
There has to be some sort of work around :|.
I have no lag whatsoever on my specs but it can only run as high as "Large" texture settings.

Loading times depend on the harddisk / SSD in the first line, then the CPU and RAM speed. Could you please submit a CPU-Z logfile so i could check your current settings?
You should not have any serious lags in the game with that rig, except you choose extreme quality which won't even run perfectly fine on a 980 SLI. CA officially said this preset is mentioned for "future GPUs".
If you could even take the time to submit your benchmark results in my thread it would be also helpful for others and would give me a chance to compare your current performance to other rigs, to get a better clue about your situation.

No it doesn't improve anything. I do have Dual core Haswell 3.2 Ghz, 7950 HD,8GB ram and all I get in battles, is 20 fps at most. I'm able to run ROME II at it's max settings, but have a trouble to run Attila at quality, with no SSAO and other settings set to performance only. And still experiencing freezes, while playing as Dans. Later in game turns are taking forever. After a patch, there's slight improvement in performance. Running on SSD as well.

If that cpu isnt overclocked you def have a big cpu bottleneck. Period.
If so rebuild stick on a good cooler and aim for around 4.5ghz. That will give you a nice boost across the board.
P.S Am running @1920x1200 with a mixture of extreme/max quality fine. (970+920@4ghz).
I have noctua nh-d15 cooler and might try some overclocking this week to see how I go.
Hunt around for info.

You should see your setup perf much better.....
P.S But yes as has been said though the warscape engine really needs to be overhauled/throw out.
Run some game benches now and see what you get then when you have hit around 4ghz (thats enough for now until you have learnt how to do it).
Rem temps will go up so make sure you have the right monitoring software so that you can see things are ok. Generally speaking if you have installed your cpu cooler ok then you should be seeing around 30c right now. It's worth using some cpu stress testing/stability software now just to see what you have to play with.
Progs such as intelburntest/prime/occt
http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/...test-v2-3.html (check they are compat with your cpu).
Coretemp/realtemp/hw monitor is good to monitor temps.
Also find cpu-z. (another usefull prog).
There's quite a few over at the guru site so read up and see what u need/like.
Ok so I overclocked it to 4.2GHZ this morning and the end turn times have gone from 1.40-2min to about 45sec to 1.20 range.
Also little things like the map tearing / lagging when i scroll around fast have stopped and its really nice and smooth!
I ran a stress test for 10 mins and at stress levels the CPU degrees sit at around 60-70 while I'm playing atilla they sit around 40-45 degree mark.
Thanks for pointing me in the overclocking CPU direction this has done wonders! I'll run some benchmarks tonight to see if the CPU helps with FPS in the benchmarking.
Sounds good! Great your setup (which has got a great cpu+gpu for starters) is actually able to show its legs as it were...
60-70c is fine but i'd def make sure you are stable and keep an eye on those temps. 40-45 when gaming is great. in summer rem temps will go up. (generally)
why i changed to water..much less than noise and great for overclocking. but see how that noctua does.
p.s what fans have you got on it? one trick i did when i had a noctua cooler was I replaced the stock fans with some ys-tech (american and are great) fans with more beef. however noctua tend to be one of the best...
rem though running say 4.2 ghz might need a big whack of vcore...it's a silicon lottery which chip you get. you can spend quite a bit of time fine tuning so you can use less vcore and keep temps down.
at least though you got to 4.2ghz which is great! might be able to reach 4.5 but take it easy...
p.p.s with that setup you should really be on 1920x1200 or 3k/4k screen![]()

That noctua has two big fans (stock ones) and I have a corsair 780T case with all the stock fans that come with it.
I've gone up to 4.3ghz and I'll slowly and safely keep increasing it to see how I go!
Yeah after spending so much on the PC I didn't have any cash left for a new monitor, I'll get a new monitor and then see how I go.
Still scared to go up that type of resolution with Atilla, if it struggles on 1920x1080 I can only imagine what will happen when we starting hitting that higher resolution.
Well if I can run 1920x1200 fine then so should you. But yeah 27inch i'd need 970sli...and that's another ballgame in itself.
Actually making do with your current screen is a good idea as more 27inch ips/pls g sync are coming out. Atm the qnix albeit you have to import it most likely is still the best bang for your buck (overclockable screen) but i'd prefer something I could get in the uk. (easier for warranty etc).
Was very tempted as they were going for around £200...excellent price.
Declared victory to early turn times are back to 2 minutes.
I've tried SSD NON SSD same end turn times.
If I look at a resource monitor during the end turns nothing goes over 20% and it doesn't come close to pushing the CPU to 4.3ghz.
No idea what to do.
Ok now its fixed :|.
Updated motherboard bios and I'm running max everything with 20 second end times!
