Default Where Should I Install the Patch (3.2)?

I apologize if I'm posting in the wrong area or if I'm posting about something that has already been addressed, but where do I install the 3.2 patch? Into the mod folder itself? I am on Steam, by the way. Thanks!

Into your steam../../common/Medieval II Total War folder. All Third Age.exe files go here.

So it is not steam../../common/Medieval II Total War/mods , nor steam../../common/Medieval II Total War/mods/Third_Age_3.

Hmmm... When I go to options it should say version 3.2 instead of the 1.52 or whatever, right? Because I installed where you told me to and the version still says 1.52 in the options menu.

Did you remove/delete previous TATW versions, and downloaded and installed a fresh TATW 3.0 both parts + TATW 3.2 Patch?

If you have done this, and when you start TATW it says on first screen TATW 3.2 , then that's it.

In Options screen it says 1.52 because that is the latest steam M2TW version.

I downloaded TATW 3.0 last week. I also did the thing where I had to rename a vanilla folder and all that. Now I'm trying to install the 3.2 patch but I can't seem to get it to work. I even tried copying the contents of the new "text" folder and replacing the old "text" folder with that (in my "americas" folder that holds my TATW) but that didn't work either. Should I just download 3.0 again and then do the 3.2 patch before renaming folders and whatnot? I feel like that might be simpler.

Renaming the Third_Age_3 folder doesn't work anymore after the latest M2TW update. Rename the folder back to Third_Age_3, and use one of three methods mentioned here in a section called "Steam Installation for Third Age TW": http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...h-pictures-!-)

    Good luck!

So I tried what you said and it still doesn't work. I've installed the patch and put it in my Medieval 2 Total war folder. I have my "launch options" in Steam set to "put --features.mod=mods/Third_Age_3". Here are some screenshots of what I'm looking at:

Have you downloaded and installed TATW 3.0 Part 1 and Part 2? Patch 3.2 is just a patch for TATW 3.0..

For the desktop TATW icon do I need to edit the "start in" box or any of the other properties?

You mean you want to have/change the TATW Ring icon for the desktop shortcut, or, you mean editing the path of the Desktop shortcut?

If it is the first thing, then right mouse click on desktop shortcut, go to Change Icon, and select the icon path from your steam/../common/M2TW/mods/Third_Age_3 folder.

For the second thing, just put the location of your Computer: ... /steam/../common/M2TW/mods/Third_Age_3 as a Start location.

Otherwise, if you don`t want to bother with this, just leave it as it is if it starts the game.

Yes, I installed both parts before installing the patch.

Well, I know like, for example, in Steam you have to change the launch properties. So I didn't know if I needed to do something like that for both Steam and my TATW desktop icon.

And I tried both of what you just suggested and it still doesn't work.

    1) Delete Third_Age_3 folder from your steam/.. / Medieval II TW/ mods folder ( the one you just installed and which does not work).

    2) Go here, and apply first step explained for Windows Vista or 7 Users : Edit Security for your main Medieval II TW Folder.
( if you have Windows 8, use these steps: LINK )

    3) All Third Age TW.exe files need to have the location of your main Medieval II TW folder as a destination path for the actual installation, which means that your destination path is: Computer > Local Disk (C: or D: or whatever the letter it is) > Program Files (x86) > Steam > SteamApps > common > Medieval II Total War

Sometimes the best thing to do is:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    a) open your main M2TW folder, right mouse click in the Address Bar and press: Copy address as text.

    b) And then replace the Default Installation path in ALL FOUR TATW Installers with this one you have just copied ( Copy address as text ):

just select the Default installation path, right mouse click and press PASTE to replace it with the location of YOUR main M2TW Folder .

    4) In your main Medieval II Total War folder there should be an application/launcher that says medieval2 or medieval2.exe , and it has the medieval 2 total war icon.

Make a copy of it in that same main Medieval II Total War folder, the copy will be named medieval2-Copy, and then rename this medieval2-Copy to kingdoms. You will notice it is now named as "kingdoms.exe".

Then use Third Age.bat ( batch ) file located in your Medieval II TW/mods/Third_Age_3 folder to start Third Age TW.

Also, if you tend to play vanilla TATW 3.2 only, without any submods installed, it would be a good thing to install these bugfixes ass well: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...1#post14533296

It is easy to install, download, extract using WinRar or WinZip, and copy/paste files.

    Great!

Now, I would suggest three things:

    1) Make a backup of whole Third_Age_3 folder somewhere on your PC( or on external HDD if you have it) in case you want to install submods for TATW. This way you have a fresh copy of TATW and you can just copy/paste it to install submods into it. Usually it is one copy= one submod.

    2) To avoid battles from crashing, turn off/disable daylight saving setting ( it is usually in your PC's Time and Date- Time Zone settings).

    3) If you tend to play vanilla TATW 3.2 only without any submod, then there are few bugfixes for it, which are easy to install: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...ntial-bugfixes

    Good luck, and enjoy playing!
