    Default Abandon Capitol?

I just abandoned my first settlement in attila. It was the capital and I was playing as the longobards. I've left home because of how far my capital was from the kingdom I was carving in northern Italy. The decision was also made because I was surrounded by allies, and my agents sucked at causing unhappiness in their regions.
So the question is how many times have you abandoned territory, and why?

That place you go to when the world becomes too much? I'm in the world. I'm why it's too much.

I never even thought to do this.

I know what campaign I am doing next.

Once only, while playing Langobards, because I was surrounded by allies, and I wanted to settle in Britain, so, on 1st turn, I've "packed my things" and rushed into sea towards Britania

Is there even a point in razing your own settlement? It affects public order negatively across your entire empire and I don't think there are any benefits.

To slow down enemy advance. I torched Kappadocia, Syria, and Cicilia early in my ERE campaign (very hard). It stopped the Sassanids from advancing westward, but their pesky minions still harassed me (though, they were much easier to deal with).

In my playing as the Franks, I have my capital in Holland secured while launching a devastating raid in Italy. My method was like this: I would loot and occupy a settlement for a few turns until my troops were fully replenished, then I abandoned this settlement and attacked the next. A spy was placed ahead so if a strong force was coming against me, I could easily avoid it.

I did while playing as Geats and I see nothing wrong with doing that.

I use diplomacy to maintain good relations with neighboring factions while I branch out, resettle somewhere else or go raiding. I build the province up as far as building constrictions allow it to balance public order and sanitation so that I get some food or money but don't have to keep a force up there. I do keep a other noble general there just in case someone comes. Use him, the garrison and some quickly recruited mercs to fend them off. I do that until the full retard modifiers kick in and everyone declares war on me, because, why not. By that time, I have a stable economy established elsewhere and don't really need my capitol province.

I defend it as long as I can just to put some hurt on the AI and then I burn it. If the AI wants it, it'll have to pay to make something out of it.

With is pointlessly ironic since the AI has no money issues to contend with, nor does it have a problem raising armies it lost while trying to take my capitol province. It's more of a "that felt good" type of thing for the player, the extreme defiance in not leaving anything to the enemy. I lost a province, but they paid dearly for trying to take it. Few turns later, I'll forget all about it anyway.

If AI had money issues like the player and was forced to strategize accordingly, it would be a cool feature. Wear their armies down, make their experienced units bleed for every inch of land they're trying to take and then after they've lost so much, burn it before their eyes. So they've wasted time, money and troops for got nothing.

    Wishful thinking...

The bonus for Sun Jetzu here is he can also make his capital only champion building in a province with other cities that he owns, and he can protect trade routes easier. Besides that not much if it's just a lone province on the edge no reason for abandoning unless u need the quick cash.
