Default Why can't I cross the straits at Constantinopolius all of the sudden

Basically I all the sudden can't cross the straits at Constantinopolius to get across the ocean to Bithynia. I am playing as the ERE and it is fall of the year 401. In the begging of the game I could cross their without a problem. But now I need to move an army east and the game keeps trying to make me cross down by the city Cyzicus. I haven't lost any territory and their is no armies, fleets or agents that could be blocking me from crossing the straits. Is this a bug, or their a reason like you can't cross their during certain seasons or after a certain date due to climate change, has anyone else experienced this. It's just really frustrating because I am using the reduced campaign movement speed and my puppet state of Lazica just declared independence by not backing me in a war so they need to taught a lesson as soon as possible before they decide to take some of my unprotected settlements.

Thanks I just posted over their. I restarted my game several times as well as reloading the save file and now it will let me cross so I'm not sure what the deal is.

I think if you upgrade the city to level III or higher, you cannot cross the straight.

Did you try clicking on the water inbetween first? Sometimes if you click on the land it wants to take you the long way round,

Once it's impassible, it makes no difference.

If you want to keep the passage open, don't upgrade your main settlement building in constantinople.

Like Aaron said, if you're on land the campaign pathfinding prioritizes staying on land, even if going across the sea would take 1 turn and taking the land route would take 3 or 4. Move to the sea between first, then to the other side.
