    Default Emergent Factions in Campaign

    Hey guys,

Don't know if I'm being crazy or not, but I've started to notice factions emerging in the game that I don't think were there at the beginning (although it's hard to tell).

    Specifically, the factions of:

    Britain
    Gaul

Appear to have emerged from the disintegrating Western Roman Empire.

I was just wondering if anybody can confirm this, and if so, has anybody else encountered any other interesting emergent factions during their playthroughs yet?

Obviously, previous TW titles have had plenty of emergent factions too, but I'm just trying to get an idea of how prevalent it is in Attila, since the campaign map is so much more dynamic with hordes, razing settlements, etc.

    Thanks.

http://www.honga.net/totalwar/attila...?l=en&v=attila check that link for all the emergent factions. Sadly it's pretty much limited to roman succesor states and does not have any emergent barbarian kingdoms.

It happens when a province gets liberated.

Example. Say the Saxons get destroyed early in the game and disappear off the map. If at some point you find yourself where their capitol province was and you beat the faction that's holding it, you'll get an option to sack, sack/occupy, raze and an option to liberate. By liberating, that province will once again become the home of the Saxons which will return to the game and a emerging faction.

OP was referring to revolts that lead to successor states.

Different areas in the Roman factions are just waiting to be liberated. It's a helpful strategy if you need some allies and those factions haven't appeared yet.

Those mini-factions occur when the provinces are in revolt, but can also be formed by liberation. I believe they are there to represent Roman rump states (remnants) that existed while the Empire was collapsing.

    Roman remnant factions:

    Egypt
    Asia
    Britain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sub-Roman_Britain)
    Gaul
    Hispania
    Illyria (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julius_...le_in_Dalmatia)
    Italia
    Macedonia
    Judea
    Pontus
    Septimania
    Domain of Soissons (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_of_Soissons)
    Dacia

    Sassanid remnant states:

    Persia
    Sepahan
