Default You can't win if you blitz?

    Hi,
I'm getting really irritated by the new winning conditions.
Appears to me if you blitz the campaign map and lets say you conquer it all you may not even win the minor victory even if there's no other factions remaining simply because you don't have enough puppet states or you've upgraded your buildings from the building that is required in the condition to win...
This is just plain stupid. Am I getting this wrong or there is some CA wisdom in this sort of setting winning conditions that I'm failing to understand?

Ignore the winning conditions and just do your blitz.

I never follow the winning conditions. I find them childish. Never since the very first TW. Who is this invisible force, telling me, the leader, what to do? Real leaders weren`t led, THEY led. I win if I dominate the world, I lose if my faction is wiped out.

Same here. Indeed, I NEVER fulfilled victory conditions in Rome 2.

But unlike you, a victory for me doesn't have to be specifically a world conquest, as becoming even a prosperous regional power is already a victory for me.

Actually that`s a good enough victory for me as well sometimes. Once I am so strong or powerful the rest of the wrold hasn`t a hope of threatening me that is a win too.

Kinda the same... But following Zhayedan's complaint I think "cruder" winning conditions would be better so you dont have to do everything on the list, but only a part of it, necessarily.

You can still win. It just means that it might take additional work to match the tedious conditions. I myself am going for a Sassanid divine triumph, and I've played very carefully to make sure that there would be 20 vassal states around, especially making sure that the puppets don't rebel (which makes a pretty tedious diplomacy game). I currently have 17 vassals, at year 436 and there are four factions nearby that have only one province, so I think I'm on track. I haven't taken those four factions yet because they have very low relations with my current puppets, so their existence (and perpetual state of war with me) is necessary for me to maintain high relations with my current puppets.

there's no other factions remaining simply because you don't have enough puppet states
Lower the public order of a region, let it rebel so that it spawns various factions (especially the Roman rump states), then retake the region and make it a puppet.

you've upgraded your buildings from the building that is required in the condition to win
Not sure what you're referring to. You can always convert buildings or dismantle and build a new one.

come on guys, i subjugated the two roman empires before the 35th turn and reached the last imperium level too, but now all my puppet states declare war on me although i never betrayed a treaty and am going "steadifast"...
ca has long time given up on testing total war before release...
it's like no one has ever played this game and given them feedback before they publish it.

The Romans are a cake walk as the Huns. I've beaten 8k Roman Infantry with 1k horse archers, easy and consistently.

That said, the destroy 40 factions condition for Divine Triumph is very luck based.

In this campaign currently turn 20. I'm trying to get a minor victory using allies to get most of the regions. I could probably get the rest of the victory conditions by 405AD but I would still be forced to go another 80 turns to get to 425 just to get the minor victory. They should at least take the year requirement off for the minor victory for people who want a shorter campaign.

I suppose, CA does not want folks abandoning campaigns before Atilla gets to ramp things up and before the climate change has a chance to have an effect on the economic dynamics.

Incidentally, those two factors can mess up a diplo victory since factions start abandoning their original settlements en masse (reducing your allies' region count).

Wait are we talking Divine Trimuph or Cultural/Military victory?

I would assume the Cultural/Military Victory are the standard victory conditions like in every TW while Divine are for hardcore people who want to go all the way.

Are there victory conditions? Never looked at them

in my jutes campaign. atillia the hun just randomly came near my country. attacked my ally and got beat. then was wondering near my lands with a weaken force of like 9. half units. i just declared war on the huns then and killed atillia the king. then a script came up saying what will the huns do leaderless? i dont know if it helped me or hurt. me but the huns are still attacking in hordes and now i'm at war with them, but atilla is gone. he was one powerful general.

To relate my experience to all of my TW GCs.

I always "lose" to some other faction that achieves the 'win' conditions before me. I just shrug and continue to paint the map my colour.
