Default Suggestion to CA: Campaign/expedition upkeep cost?

I think one crucial element that is missing from a game set in late antiquity is a better game mechanic that depicts how expensive it would be for a player to launch an offensive campaign. We know from our sources about the number of times the Romans bankrupted their treasury just to launch a military expedition, especially the failed invasion of North Africa.

The further you are from your core territories, the more expensive it should be for you to sustain an army. The units upkeep cost should increase by massive amount if the Roman legions are in Germanic lands, which reflects the problem the Romans were facing towards the end of the western Empire. The fact that it was cheaper for Emperors to bribe Barbarians rather than launch a war against them should be one of the decision the players have to take.

If CA can implement some sort of way to simulate how expensive it is to deploy an army for war as opposed to simply keeping them around for defensive/sentry duties, it would nicely balance the game and make the campaign a lot more interesting for the players.

Yes ! I thought about that when seing ERE armies tracking my Huns armies into the north of Sarmetia. I was like "uh, are you sure you can afford that ?". Also, I would have thought the army's integrity would get terrible as would the attrition. But it look like those factors are cheated as they are now, for the AI at least.
