Advisor text only visible for a fraction of a second

I'm on turn 18 playing as Epiros. My advisor is trying to give me a message, something like 'colonists ready to dispatch', but when I click on the portrait the text flashes up for a fraction of a second and then dissappears so I cant read the whole text. Anyone else have this issue? Is there a fix?

I am also having issues dismissing the advice, clicking dismiss advice doesn't seem to stop my advisor coming back with the same advice next turn!

I have this problem, the fix is to push the 3rd button from the left when the portrait pops up, I don't remember the name of it now, but if you push it then it will fix the problem
