Thread: [Tutorial] Change non-unicode program to PRC China

Default [Tutorial] Change non-unicode program to PRC China

There are two models strats from DOMOD's mods that actually use textures whose name is in simplified Chinese. Altough the mod is all in English, if you don't play with non-unicode PRC Chinese settings, you wont be able to start a campaign.
If you don't want to change your settings, please apply the non-prc china patch in the download section. You will just miss Song and Srivijaya generals.

Note : If you are using programs that require non-unicode specific settings (such as programs in Russian, Japanese, French, ...) you may find temporary side effects. Once you go back to your previous non-unicode execution settings, you won't have these side effects anymore. If you use a computer with only english applications, you won't have any problem as far I know.

Go to control panel, region and language, administrative. Change nonunicode program execution into PRC Chinese. This will restart the computer.

Is there no way to change those strat models to rename those texture files to english names, latinized chinese or something? Did you ask in the workshop maybe?

I know how to do correct, but right know I am missing the tools to do so.

It can only be done with 3dmax or Milkshape.
But anyway my problem at the moment is to convert cas models to a readable format. I use to do it with a program called GOAL, but maybe because of the texture name in Chinese both models makes the program crash so. Until I fix this issue in a near future, please use one of the two solutions.

Zarathos has a tool that in the next version should include .CAS convertor , according to his post here http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...1#post14374355
Maybe ask him about this issue.

Any Chinese mod such as these. So THAT'S why we have to change it. I wish there was a way to convert easily.

I was able to fix Srivijaya general with a binary editor.

There is only chinese general to fix, but this one looks more mysterious.

    Ah, I see.

There is also one major mod that hasn't been posted here yet because it's still being worked on, but it's like the other two mods except set in late 1800s. That one definitely needs major fixing.

I have changed the non-unicode language to Chinese (PRC) but I still can not start a campaign. Is something missing? I have the latest version 2.0b

Sorry, it works. Several times it took a lot to start and crash, but I waited and it worked. I can not delete the previous message because the forum is in a strange format
