Thread: Morning Sun 2.0 update

    Default Morning Sun 2.0 update

    This post is to explain how Morning Sun 2.0 is progressing. Below is a map of all the factions.




    1. The mod will start in 1582. I've updated the Japanese, Korean, and Chinese factions to reflect this.
    2. I have finished making the models for the land units but I have not been able to make new ship models.
    3. I have a version of the campaign map; which will include Ming dynasty China, Jurchen Tribes, Mongol clans, Tibetan kingdoms, and Tusi kingdoms.
    4. I have not updated the undiscovered areas map because I'm not able to edit this file.

    My response is simply: With so many regions, does the campaign map lag at all?

    It depends on how powerful your computer is. It may lag if your computer had trouble running Morning Sun.

    Unknown. It depends on how many changes have to be made. The amount of artwork I have to make will also influence how long it takes.

    Hmm... I presume the CAI across the sea will never touch Japan soil or any shogun factions touch China at all throughout a campaign? Thus making the player do all the work.

    Correct. I've give Korea and China peaceful AIs so they won't attack unless they're attacked. This is so the 90 region China and 40 region Korea won't overwhelm the 2-3 region Japanese players.

    The Japanese AI is coded so it won't attack factions that are 20-45 times larger than it.

    I see. I also presume you can only access China through Korea's land passage, as otherwise you would lose units from attrition if you crossed the sea directly right?

    You can sail to China via Korea without suffering from attrition. Though the Korean and Chinese navies may try to stop you.

    I've thought of a submod that would be cool for later in development. If this idea can't work then oh well but here it is: since Korea and China factions can't attack shogun factions and vise versa, why not make Korean and Chinese units be top tier by default at the start of a campaign along with their buildings as well. This will make it so the player can only attack them once they're strong enough, in this case taking all of Japan first. Korea and China would be a endgame challenge if you will, and require you to have top tier units yourself to win against them. Now this submod can only apply to the CAI, since it would be broken if players had top tier units at the start while playing as Korea for example. Anyway what are your thoughts on it? Aside from that I look forward to further development of this mod.

    ********!!!!!!!!! I have never seen this amount of regions added into the tw maps when edited. I must commend you on your brilliant work. But how will you be able to make Chinese custom settlements and add them on the map? I can definitely see a ROTK mod to be made in the near future.

    Very well done but quick suggestion, could you make a version of this mod (when it is out.) for the fots campaign? Invading China and Korea as imperial Japan sounds amazing. Is this possible or are the map types too different?

    There's 271 in total. Currently Japan has 107, Korea has 40, China has 91, and the Mongols/Jurchen/Tibetans have 33.

    The FotS campaign lacks the unit parts needed for the Japanese factions because it's set in a different time period. I also lack models for China and Korea during the Boshin war. As a result I can't make a version of this mod that will work with FotS.

    I'd have to research China and Korea, then make dozens of new models for both factions. Currently I don't have time to do this.

    Yes but he'll be level one since I can't start a campaign with high level generals.

    I know I'm putting the cart way before the horse, but will it be possible for Jurchen/Mongol cavalry to have a larger/360 degree shooting window?
