Yeah that's an easy thing to do anyway. But if Sweden is playable, it's better having it from the begining though.

Oh, small note. It wont be Great Zimbabwe but Mutapa Kingdom. Aynway doesn't make much difference, since Mutapa suceded Zimbabwe and both seem to share ties.

I made some researchs on Kongo and Kanem-Bornu.

I think that Kongo would be the better choice.
Kanem is very similar to the already present songhai. Also North African wont be boring since Morroco, Ottomans, Songhai, Portugal and Spain are present.

Kongo has very interessting points. First they are Catholics, we would have then 3 subsaharian factions with 3 different religions which is cool.
Then the warfare style is also different from Mutapa and Songhai. Kongo also adopted crossbows and rifles with Portuguese influance.
The south of Africa becomes more busy with Portugal, Mutapa and Kongo.
