    Default Tip of the day!

Playing England. I conquer Dublin by moving troops across by boats. Remove bulk of army back to the mainland. Scotland then invades Ireland across the sea link with his large task force. Methinks stick a ship on the link and see what happens. He conquers Dublin but can't get back across the link because of my ship. Edinburgh and Inverness are mine :-)

This is a bit off topic, but how big is the army of rebels in Ireland?

I had 4 units in dublin when the Scots moved across the land bridge but they didn't attack once I placed a ship on the green marker. They just stood there the whole time till scotland was conquered and the they became rebel.

Not massive, two units of gallowglaich (spl?) and spearmen I think. As for landbridges I'm not too concerned at their inclusion but I'm glad there's not one from england to france.

I think it's realistic, I wouldn't say that the green arrows in the water represent swimming distance, but more like the distance it takes to build small rafts ( Use your imagination ). Which makes sence because of you sent a big boat to block it there's no way the small crafts could get by.

it really works, i tried that in my campaing with the Turks. I blocked the 2 landbridges, one from constantinople and the other one at the other entrance to Anatolia. So i keep most armies away

I hope this isn't an accidental "feature" and they "fix" it. I really like this, and I think it makes sense

Yeah, one thing that's always bugged me is that you need a full navy just to get a few soldiers across a thin stretch of water that people have gotten across more easily historically.

Another "tip" that I think some people are missing out on. When you try and give the enemy a gift you have to click on the gift button at the bottom centre left of the diplomacy screen. People have complained about the AI rejecting "gifts" but I don't think they've been using this button. I certainly haven't seen a gift rejected using this.
