    Default Geats: How to take over Scandza on turn 1

    Here's how to do it.

    1) Talk to the WRE and get them to pay you to join war against the Jutes. The amount you get will vary, In general try somewhere around the 2000 range.

    2) Recruit all mercenaries except the cavalry unit with your second army.

    3) Recruit the mercenary cavalry unit into your king's army. You can put more of the mercenaries into your king's army if you want, depending on how good you are with battles and if you autoresolve or fight the battles.

    4) Recruit the mercenary light marauder into your navy.

    5) Move your navy just into range of the Jutes navy.

    6) Take your second army and attack the Jutes navy.

    7) Autoresolve and choose replenish.

    8) Blockade Alabu with your army, it's fairly close so autoresolve or fight it, Jutes destroyed.

    9) Go to sea with the king's army, straight south as far as you can go. you'll end up in range of the Danes navy and port.

    10) Talk to the Rugians and Varinians and see which one will pay you the most to join war against the Danes. It varies, you might get between 500-700.

    11) Move your navy into the Danes sea zone and recruit the mercenary ship.

    12) Attack the Danes navy with yours. Autoresolve or fight it if your good with naval battles.

    13) Blockade with your navy, fight it, Danes destroyed and Scandza is yours.

    It is easy as Gaets, many mistakes can be made and still it will work out favourably.


    The Jutes are much harder. Try to do this as the Jutes on VH in MPC. I did not survive 2 tries on VH in MPC as Jutes. Usually, outspammed by Angles within 2-3 turns. The only chance a player has to survive the first 10 rounds as Jutes is to:

    Turn 1:
    - Become friends with Gaets, they will not leave their settlement abandoned unless you are very friendly / possibly allied
    - March army south, train 4 Spearmen
    - Recruit second General in Alabu
    Turn 2:
    - March General #2 south, recruit all Mercenaries (pray that there are enough available)
    - March General #2 into reinforcement-range near Angulus
    - Attack the secondary stack of Angles sitting right next to Angulus with General #1, defeat them
    - Take Angulus
    - Make friends with Germanic factions
    Turn 3:
    - Make friends with Germanic factions
    - Become friends with the people in Rhugion, in order to gang up on the Danes in northern Germania
    - Keep looking for the first opportunity to attack & kill Danes
    Turn x:
    - If Gaets leave Hrefnesholt, break the alliance to attack Hrefnesholt. Make sure that you have paid them to break any agreements to other factions, and do not ask anyone to join you.
    - The malus of being traitorous will wear off quickly if Gaets have no other friends and sympathies.

    I'm assuming the other player is fighting as the opposing forces?

    If not, recruit all the mercs on turn 1 and take the Geats city after you destroy their navy. They'll have a half stack left but there much less of a threat at that point. The difficult part is taking out the Danes before they spam a couple armies.

    It costs to much but you can pay the angles to join against the WRE on turn 1 or 2, no guarantee that they won't come after you but at least it gives them a chew toy to play with.

    Wouldn't have worked for this campaign, as this highly depends on the lottery at the start of campaign. ALso, as I mentioned, it is an MPC. I see from your answer that you didn't read what I wrote in post #2.

    Being up against the Saxons, and having Angles at war with your during turn 1, and the Geats having 2 stacks (10 + 10 incl Mercenaries) at turn 2 plus a Navy, camping their capital for 20 turns, doesn't help either. If you move up against them first, the Angles will strike immediately. During 3 started MPCs, they did so 2 times, 2 times we fought it out and the Jutes succumbed.

    And remember, in MPC you must outnumber the opposing army if you're both at roughly the same skill level, like we are. You cannot fight and win against superior forces. Most battles are decided before the armies meet - on the strategy map.


    In SP I could also easily defeat twice the numbers, and playing the Jutes in there is hilariously easy.

    Geats are OP, especially with that ability to campaign year round and starting with a city.

    In my Jutes campaign, I just migrated West on turn 1 to Britain, took everything to Hadrians wall in a few turns, and sent a an army/fleet South to raid, sack and pillage my way down to Spain to make the money needed to build/convert my new provinces, while making nice with the other northern Gernmanic factions and the other two Nordic ones. After 15 turns or so, I had a lot of money coming in through trade and a safe base of operations in Britain.

    Starting position of the Nordic factions really give you a lot of options, depending your play style. Great fun.

    I've been trying this with the Geats on Legendary and I can take out the Jutes, but I keep having problems with the Danes.

    Is the problem with the movement or the battle?

    I have a revision for step 1. It seems the movement varies somewhat for whatever reason. Before you talk to the WRE, click on the second army and see if they have enough movement to reach alabu then hold right click to see if your king can get within range of the danes navy and port if not restart.

    A bit of both actually. I can get my navy to support the attack on the Jute navy, but they're not in range for the invasion of Alabu, and moving them in range makes it unable to reach the Dane city. If I don't support the invasion of Alabu though, I tend to get swingy autoresolve results...
