Default The mechanics of Attila and his demise.

So in my Leg WRE campaign, I've killed Attila three times. Once was in chapter 2, before he became leader of the Huns. I wiped out his whole stack in auto-resolve and he disappeared a little while. Then in chapter 4 (year 436 A.D.) I killed him again, my FL initiated a night battle against him, wounded him (but his heavily damaged stack remained on the map, and retreated back a bit). Then in the same turn I fought several more night battles to push the 6-7 other stacks surrounding him back, and my Faction Leader attacked him again and destroyed what was left of his army (the army led by Attila) in auto-resolve. This time Attila never re-appeared in my campaign.

    Some screens:

No message saying he died would come up until 445 A.D. No message ever came up for me saying that he became leader of the Huns either. In my diplomacy screen some guy named Bleda remained in charge until Attila officially died in 445. You can see the faction leader crown icon is greyed out for Attila in the screenshots.

Is this normal or did my campaign bug out? What are you're experiences on how Attila works in the campaign?

    I think it varies.

In my second campaign as the WRE, I beat Atill atleast 2-3 times in Chapter 3 (when he officially becomes king/faction leader).

I saw the animation of my general stabbing atilla in the face on the campaign map (haha stabbed in the face yet still not dead).

However, once I beat him, AND, got the popup/box 'Just a man', all I had to do was beat him/kill him one more time and then he was dead for good.

    All in Chapter 3.

    I think your campaign bugged.

That's unfortunate :/. I'm not using any mods besides GEMFX. No idea what could have gone wrong.

I had a non-aggression pact with the Huns and arranged a marriage between one of my daughters and Bleda before 420. Maybe that daughter disappearing from family tree when marriage off bug somehow prevent Bleda from dying/being replace by Attila?

You're lucky then. 150 turns as the WRE and Attila died at 30-something and the Huns still haven't attacked me once anywhere...
