    Slower Grand Campaign Mod for DEI 1.04a

    NOTE: GRAND CAMPAIGN ONLY
    Third version of my slower campaign mod. I had been using four different mods patched together with a sprinkle of my own changes in my personal campaign, and now I finally decided to combine them into one large Frankenstein. Overall, it feels like a well-balanced, slow campaign for those of you who like the marathon feel of civ. Lasts about 275-400 turns for victory conditions. THIS ONLY CHANGES THE MAIN CAMPAIGN. REQUIRES NEW GAME. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE MY SLOWER BATTLE MOD, BUT THAT CAN BE FOUND HERE: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?676719-DEI-1-02-Slower-Battle-Mod

    THIS MOD BRINGS YOU:

    -12 TPY
    -Increased building times, costs, and research
    -Public order decreased for longer in newly acquired cities, local traditions more resistant
    -Reforms now occur about 50% later than normal
    -Veteran Units: Unit experience thresholds increased by 50% in line with game pace
    -Characters: Unit experience thresholds doubled in line with game pace

    -Civil war chances are reduced to compensate but not eliminated.

    This mod does NOT change anything else like available units, diplomacy, battles, etc.

    OVERALL: These changes make the campaign longer and IMHO more enjoyable.

    TO INSTALL:

    Download, put in data folder. Using the mod manager place this ABOVE DEI. That is all!

    I accidentally put this in the wrong forum, so here is the correct post.

    In answer to a question in that thread:

    The AI expands well with these changes. They do so at a slower pace than vanilla but more deliberately. Late game empires are formidable and a challenge.

    Does this increase the upkeep cost for units? Starting as Rome my earning level for the first turn is -668 and I have to delete some starting units to bring it into the green.

    good idea for a submod you might want to also limit agent recruitment having less governors in game would make assimilating newly conquered areas much harder

    I made something similar(just for myself) and compared it with your mod.
    I got to say yours is better, but you might wanna add this little piece reduced movement range for land units.

    Added a reduced movement version taken directly from Donkanallje's wonderful mod. Should be compatible with current campaigns that are using the original version of my mod, but the movement effects won't change until you hit "end turn".

    Obviously if Donkanallje objects I will gladly remove this version. I do appreciate his work!

    Which version of Donkanallje´s mod did you use? That is by which percentage is movement reduced?

    @Nikaa, it affects it as the official increased research mod does. I assume the research time effects the AI equally, or that they do not use research at all.

    @Maetheran, just the latest standard version he released, with his new winter changes. NOT the naval one....yet.

    @Germanicus. Yeah, I was spending so much time tweaking mods for my own enjoyment that I figured I may as well release it for others to try! Glad you like the speed....I'm a marathon civ player myself. Just something about the pace that makes it even sweeter.

    Glad you all enjoy. I WILL be looking carefully at any suggestions because I want to release future iterations. FOR EXAMPLE, I'm considering increasing the reform time to x2 instead of x1.5. Play a campaign and let me know how it feels!

    An update for you to wonder about the pace of this game!

    It's turn 345, year 244 BC. The Republic of Rome has recently instituted the Marian Reforms in 320 BC. Julius Libo (lvl 9), the first leader of my faction, has just passed away of old age. Most cities have tier two buildings, and I am starting to gain steam on my research rate as I start on "tier II" techs. A war in the north against the Suebi and their allied germanic nations was finally concluded after over 20 years of fighting, but rebellions are not uncommon. Scipio Asinus (just turned lvl 10) has led Legio I since its inception, and he is moping up the Nervi at the age of 65. Clearly, he will command until he dies!

    Things are quiet on the Eastern and Western front are quiet, but kingdoms are consolidating!
