Default Vae Victis Battles for Attila

    Vae Victis
    Attila Battle Mod?

Now before you all get too excited, this isn't a release thread or anything to indicate that the Vae Victis battles will be done for Attila. Rather this is to gauge the level of community interest in creating a Attila version of our Rome 2 battle mechanics and unit stats.

    What is Vae Victis?
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Vae Victis is an ultra realisitc and historically accurate mod for Rome 2

What's so special about Vae Victis battles?
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Vae Victis has an extremely in depth battle system with the most ultra realistic representation of an ancient battlefield. Roach and I spent over 6 months developing a system that would be 1 system for all scenarios.

It is the only mod (that I'm aware of) that takes into account every piece of a equipment of a unit when calculating unit stats. Short sleeve vs long sleeve armour? yup they are different, helmet cheek guards? yup they increase armour as well. We went even further, each item also has a weight and weight impacts a units ability to fight and run as well.

Every piece of information we can get goes into our calculation of unit stats to ensure that you can look at a unit and know what to expect.

It is not scisors paper rock live vanilla but rather a much more involved battle experience.

If you have Rome 2 and haven't tried it, please try it before voting

More explanations of the mechanic system can be found here:

Why is there a poll? just make the mod already
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Due to the level of detail involved with the battle system, recreating it for Attila would require a significant amount of time.

Currently there are a number of other battle overhauls released or being developed for Attila, is another one really necessary.

To make this mod I would need help in cataloging all the unit equipment, otherwise the amount of time required just becomes to great. So this poll has a twofold purpose of both seeing how much interest there is in it and if there are people who would like to help make it happen.

This would not be Vae Victis for Attila, so no new units, no campaign mechanics, no ui changes, no historical names. It would only be for battles and unit costs/upkeep.

Let me know what you think.

Would defo try it. The DeI mods with their battles I have always loved. I'm using the one KAM is creating at the moment in my games, but being able to change to another good in-depth battle mod for new campaigns and change from time to time would only make the game that much more richer for all TW players. Love the idea.

100% I'd give it a try. I'm always seeiking good battle mods as I find vanilla battles too arcadey. At the moment I'm using Kam's battle mod with some personal tweaks cuz I find his experimental pack has a kill rate way too fast for my personnal taste - I like more tactical and slow paced combat!!!

The fact you that change the scisors paper rock system is great - this system is too predictable!

I too would definitely give this mod a try, as it sounds quite awesome indeed. I love historical accuracy and slow, tactical battles.

    So, bring it on! ;-)

I say: definitely yes! Vae victis battles are exactly what I like: slow melee, tactical gameplay and realistic projectiles -in vanilla, a couple of volleys can exterminate half of a unit.

We need the CAI more than anything else. Sick of random stacks of armies hunting you half way across the map.

Junaid made the VV cai and has a cai mod for attila he is working on. It wont be historical but it will be challenging.
