Can you play multiplayer campaigns with mods? Me and a mate have been trying for an hour now with the same mods installed but it still says we have a different version installed... Any tips?

when you have the same mods installed it should work....
I'm currently playing a multiplayer campaign with a friend and we are both using our personal mod
recheck if you really have the same versions and maybe both delete all mods, verify integrity of game cach (via steam, right mouse button on the game -> properties -> local files)
Afterwards both of you go to exact same link and download the exact same mod
