Default [REQUEST] variety in battle maps

As my topics named, I really wish there were more variety in the campaign battlemaps, those of you playing norse will know what i mean especially

every village is either the village on a hill, or the raised base

also i find a disturbing lack of geography in the battlemaps i've been playing, no cliffs, no unpassable rocks no valleys either sadly.

and a question to those playing other factions, is it the same deal? 2 types of towns basically for everyone?

This is true of most factions, though I can tell that the battlemaps they did create took a lot of work (You have to admit, there is an incredible amount of design put into each of the maps currently in the game imo). The problem is there aren't that many. Ted is coming in April or May, and that will let us add our own battlemaps to the campaign map, which will let the community design our own maps to put into the game. Until then, we just have to deal with it.

ahh, good to know that the solution is coming. albeit in time
and yes i agree, the maps themselves are fantastic , it's just that there is so little variation

I think CA is missing a trick my not including more epic landscapes. Battles are so much funner when there are impassable bits of terrain that force choke points.

They've got this game the wrong way round. The campaign map, which should be vast and open and accessible, has all the annoying choke points and tight corridors, not the battle map. Wouldn't it be great to fight in the Hot Gates at Thermopylae? Or on a map with marshes that prevent flanks? Or maps with cliffs on which to place archers?

They really don't have it the wrong way around. The choke points on the campaign map allows tactical placement of armies to actually defend areas, unlike in the old games where you could just walk around any enemy army and attack their settlement.

The lack of choke points on the battle maps ensures that it's constantly interesting, with attacks and counter-attacks and secret flanking movements etc, instead of a boring grind where there's no tactical positioning, just spamming more and more troops into 1 gap.
