    Default *request* Faction unlocker?

    Hello all!

Would there be any WORKING faction unlockers for attila yet? I downloaded one a few days ago but when I go to the campaign the factions aren't there to select. So any other unlockers you've heard of would be appreciated

Well, let me update you to what I currently know about unlocking factions.

Unlocking factions for attila is the same as for rome 2, therefor the first faction unlocker came out a few days after release. The family tree however was completely new and noone has yet been able to add a family tree. So the factions worked fine but the politics screen would eventually crash. I can not speak for other modders here but I've been digging around in the files and I think I know what could be the way to add family trees. Unfortunately I cannot test this because for as far a I know it is not possible to add the desired entity in the pack file manager so we'll most likely have to wait for the official tools to properly unlock factions. This would also explain why some of the bigger modders have not released anything regarding the fully unlocking of factions.

Edit: you said the unlocked factions do not show up but they do for me so you're probably using another mod that changes the "startpos.esf" file

Well, in my opinion, we will probably never be able to unlock the politics (in this case family tree) feature just like we could not with Rome II. I had a quick look and it seems to be managed in the startpos file in a position where we cannot add extras with the tools we have now (or will probably get). However, what we can do (similar to Rome II) is switch factions. In other words, give a playable faction the role of a faction you want to unlock, convert it. But this would mean that the faction you use to make the switch will become unplayable.

I once managed to add two Belgae factions in a campaign like this (trading them for the Marcomanni and Iceni). They were completely switched, so it is a lot of work and the diplomacy I never was able to switch perfectly, but well... I don't know if I will have the courage to do this again, it was pretty crazy and now the mod doesn't work anymore and being a few months ago, I am not eager to look at it again.

Anyway, it is always good to have many playable factions, DLC or not... We will have more options of factions to make a switch.

My excuses for my previous thread. There is still a possiblilty we can do something with the tools they will give us, but until then...
